Florrieboo · 14/02/2026 03:36

I know a child called Fox, based on that I would do all I could to change her mind

SorryNotSorry00 · 14/02/2026 02:56

Presuming this is a real post, I wouldn’t be interested in what middle name such a lunatic gave the child because you don’t hear of middle names often, and more importantly with a first name like Fox it doesn’t really matter anyway.

anon4net · 14/02/2026 02:43

Fox Gregory Joseph
Fox Liam Joseph - probably my favourite
Fox Alexander Joseph
Fox Lachlan Joseph
Fox Oliver Joseph

I'd avoid one syllable middle names as Fox is one.

Fox Joseph goes well together. People rarely call your middle names so it's nice it has a good ring to it as that's what will be used every day.

Fox Elliott has a nice ring to it.

When you meet your grandson you won’t really care what his name is.

Congratulations

But this child may care when he’s older and he is the one who has to live with it. This is real life but so many people seem to treat naming children as yet another way to get attention.

I know an Alister, who's last name is Fox.
Fox Alister would work.

Fox Jasper Joseph
Fox Edward Joseph
Fox William Joseph
Fox Adam Joseph
Fox Oliver Joseph
Fox Indigo Joseph
Fox Reuben Joseph
Fox Roland Joseph
Fox Barnaby Joseph

I think she can't do better than Fox Alexander Joseph. The repeated X is great.

I'm quite liking Fox Indigo. ✅

OVienna · 14/02/2026 01:58

I know a family if redheads. Boy is called Fox.

I guess something classic. I don't hear anyone making jokes about Bear Grylls and it's no different really.

Yes but bear grylls name is Edward seemingly his name was shortened to teddy and his sister called him bear his parents didn't actually name him bear .a big difference

mathanxiety · 14/02/2026 01:39

Fox Jasper Joseph
Fox Edward Joseph
Fox William Joseph
Fox Adam Joseph
Fox Oliver Joseph
Fox Indigo Joseph
Fox Reuben Joseph
Fox Roland Joseph
Fox Barnaby Joseph

I think she can't do better than Fox Alexander Joseph. The repeated X is great.

Fox Alexander Joseph sounds lovely.

ukgone2pot · 14/02/2026 01:33

I quite like the name 'Fox'. The name 'Wolf' seemed to be a popular name at some point.

changedusernameforthis1 · 14/02/2026 01:29

DC4 is due this spring and their middle name will be Fox (for either boy or girl). The first names we both like are Elijah, Sebastian, Noah, Emmett and Arlo.

I think they work well as middle names, too.

I wouldn't worry too much about being bullied for a name - I've seen plenty of children being bullied for "normal" names (Ben Dover comes to mind). A girl at my school was called Pebbles and was one of the popular girls.
Although my Mum used to ask me if she had any siblings called stone, rock or seashell 😁

ImDoneOnceAndForAll2 · 14/02/2026 01:26

I know of a 12 year old called Fox
I dont think he has a middle name.

dreichluver · 14/02/2026 01:25

Glove?

SnowFrogJelly · 14/02/2026 01:16

Sake?

RudolphRNR · 14/02/2026 01:14

Really OP, this is not your baby, you don’t get to have an opinion on your daughter’s choice of name. No one except the baby’s parents should have an opinion. You had your chance to name your own baby. Let your daughter use the name she loves without comment.
Fox is a lovely name, it’s not common, but it is known. It’s no different to any of the other ‘nature’ names in use as first names.
Fox Joseph sounds strong, clear, natural.

If she has actually asked you for middle name suggestions, mine would be
Fox Ethan Joseph
Fox Gabriel Joseph
Fox Christopher Joseph

But if she hasn’t asked, keep your beak out!

Can you imagine her posting on here? “I’m expecting a baby boy soon and I’m so excited but also nervous and my mum keeps criticising my baby’s name so I don’t feel supported” Just be there for her and be supportive in her choices for her baby.

Spookyspaghetti · 14/02/2026 01:12

Offleyhoo · 13/02/2026 22:58

William?

Lol. All the X-files fans rushing to the comments. This was probably in my baby names list as a teen tbf.

Ideally she should go for just a classic boys name, then Fox has some options when he gets older. David perhaps 😉

Although they did call him ‘spooky’ Mulder and there are a lot of Caspers’ around at the moment!

Alex, Eugene, Victor, Walter, Roland, Duane, Barry

Tezza1 · 14/02/2026 01:12

Ontherun. Pronounce "onthe" as one syllable to make it fancy, if you like.

bridgetreilly · 14/02/2026 01:05

Fox Benedict
Fox Hereward
Fox Cameron
Fox Edward

FourForksSake · 14/02/2026 00:55

Fox Jude Joseph
Fox Jake Joseph
Fox John Joseph

or another J name. I like the double initial.

HorrorPudding · 14/02/2026 00:55

There was a little boy called Fox in my DD’s reception class back in 2004. I wouldn’t choose myself but it quite suited him.

I agree with those saying a longer middle name would be good, classic and with some syllables such as Christopher or Alexander. Then when he is a high court judge in later life he can adopt his classic middle name.

If it’s any consolation, when I was at school there was a boy called Wayne King. Fox is better than that, at least your DD has been thinking hard about it whereas Wayne’s parents didn’t think hard enough and failed in their duty of care!

Unpaidviewer · 14/02/2026 00:53

I'm shocked at some of the comments. The name isn't particularly crazy or out there. We regularly meet kids at toddler groups called Bear, River, Fox etc and they're mainly older, middle class mums.

MaloryJones · 14/02/2026 00:47

Fox Oakley

Because she likes a name you don’t?

I hope that’s a joke and I’ve misread the tone.

pollyglot · 14/02/2026 00:44

Yves. Fox Y. Jones.
