These are the only names we like but it is hard to choose:

Elyana
Lilia
Lea

@suziequeue1 , I don't think she'd appreciate being called Liar. Smile

Needmorelego · 11/02/2026 15:26

@suziequeue1 my name is sometimes pronounced "wrong" simply because of different accents.
I don't really give it much thought 🙂

To be honest it's not a huge deal.
"Hello Lay-a"
"Actually it's pronounced Ly-a"
"Oh apologies... Hello Ly-a"
and then use that pronunciation from then on. 🤷

Exactly lol... my name is ALWAYS mispronounced!! And I just correct them and move on... I was simply asking which name is nicer, not which is easier to pronounce. Also I'm not British and the ethnic names in my culture are even harder to pronounce...

I'd think it was My-a. Maya Angelou and Maya Jama are both My-a. 🤷

Actually now I think about it with Maya Angelou I have always said her name as My-a.
But I would have been introduced to her books at school by a teacher who presumably said her name that way.
To be honest it's not a huge deal.
"Hello May-a"
"Actually it's pronounced My-a"
"Oh apologies... Hello My-a"
and then use that pronunciation from then on.

If you want the Laya sound then spell it Laya. Maya is usually My-a.

Unless I was told otherwise I would assume Maya is said "May-a" not Mya 🤷

CurlewKate · 11/02/2026 11:11

Sorry. None of the above . Not with those spellings, anyway!

KarriTreeSullivan · 11/02/2026 11:09

I voted Elyana, thinking it is pronounced Elly-arna, I quite like long names.

I have never heard of Lilia as sanitary products, it was a very close second.

Lea I assumed was pronounced Leah (Lee-Uh), I would never had thought Lee. If you would want it pronounced Leia (as in Star Wars Leia) the just spell it Leia or Laya like some else suggested.

I think they are good choices!

All great names!
We had a similar predicament a few months back when trying to pick a name.
Turned to a baby name decider on chatGPT which helped break the deadlock.
Best of luck

Needmorelego · 11/02/2026 09:12

If you want the Laya sound then spell it Laya.
Or if you are massive Star Wars fans go for Leia.
I think Laya sounds pretty.

Thursday5pmisginoclock · 11/02/2026 09:06

Combine a couple for “Linnea”?

ultracynic · 10/02/2026 23:22

If you like Lea/Leia and Lilia, how about Layla / Leila?

NamingNoNames · 10/02/2026 23:09

Léa would work but the accent would not always be included. Leia would be better IMO.

user1492757084 · 10/02/2026 22:24

Lilia is the less confusing to pronounce as you intend.

ComeOnRef · 10/02/2026 19:57

I love the name Leah but wouldn’t have pronounced Lea as Leia.

RoseApp · 10/02/2026 17:49

I would have pronounced Lea as Leah or Lee would never have got Leia from that sorry

KnickerlessParsons · 10/02/2026 17:21

How do you intend pronouncing them all? There are variations available.

fashionqueen0123 · 10/02/2026 17:11

What about Lila? Elodie? Or Leah?

RegalDiamondMonster · 10/02/2026 17:09

I would have voted Leia if it's that pronunciation, like Princess Leia? But assumed it was pronounced Lee, so voted Lilia. I didn't think of sanitary towels.

Calliopespa · 10/02/2026 15:35

I don't like Elyana, whatever the spelling. It sounds slimy - like an eel.

Nursemumma92 · 10/02/2026 15:34

Definitely Eliana and Leia otherwise they will be mispronounced.

I know 2 Elyanas (!) and they are both pronounced 'El-yarna'.

Lilia is definitely the nicest.

MissyB1 · 10/02/2026 15:15

Lea is always going to be pronounced Lee. Don’t set the child up for having to correct everyone, it will be really tedious for them. Leah however is a perfectly nice name.

NamingNoNames · 10/02/2026 15:12

@Irren, and there's a big difference between a name that was made up several centuries ago and one made up now.

@suziequeue1 , I don't really like any of them. I too would think tampons about Lilia. Lea is 'Lee'. Eliana is a better spelling than Elyana.
