Really struggling to find a first name for my baby boy

We are struggling to find first name for our baby boy we set on the middle name is George and our surname is Day I kinda want a unique first name, but I don’t know if that would go with her having such a traditional middle name. Need some help.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I would upgrade George to his first name and then you can indulge yourself for a middle name safe in the knowledge that he won’t have to flinch if you get it wrong. I rather like Falcon, it was the middle name of Captain Scott the explorer and it has always struck me as a delightful and surprising name to have as a middle name.

George Falcon Day. Sounds good to me!

maddiemookins16mum · 19/01/2026 17:57

Alec George Day sounds fab.

StrongandNorthern · 19/01/2026 17:57

Unique means there is only one.
So start thinking up names, or go for 'unusual/less used'.

How about Crispin?

Crispin Day has a nice ring to it

I think .Stephen Fry’s parents toyed with it for a minute or two.

Bert Day sounds like Birthday in Irish Confused

Birthday in Irish is ‘breithlá’.

ETA Oh, sorry, was that meant to be some joke at Irish speech? Hilarious.

OP, call him Pay. He’ll always be popular.

millymollyminging · 19/01/2026 17:48

Marcus George day.

LittleGreenDuck · 19/01/2026 17:47

It's got to be Saint. Extra points if you can give him a second middle name beginning with S.

Saint George S Day

You have 4 names from 4 different generations of my family in your list!

HugoYorway · 19/01/2026 17:19

@dailyconniptions , hence my focus on a first name that goes with the surname

(The only one on that list that's not silly is Darren. Try saying the others.)

Forget about the middle name and focus on a first name that goes with the surname. Middle names hardly ever get used.

Watch the initial.
D Day is OK, B Day isn't.

Edited

Good grief. Ray Day and Jay Day are ridiculous.

I like a bit of alliteration so I would go for something like Dylan. But I don’t like yooneek names.

Just remember that one day he might be a CEO or something similar, so you need to give him a name that works then as well as now!

RecordBreakers · 19/01/2026 15:37

For it to be unique, you'd have to make something up.

I wouldn't advise it - give the lad a proper name.
