It's my aunt's name. Very nice. I don't think I've heard anyone call her by a shortening. She doesn't pronounce it the Simon & Garfuncle way though.

raindropsonroses · 17/06/2008 01:56

I love it

PuppyMonkey · 14/06/2008 22:18

No

dizzydixies · 14/06/2008 22:16

Twinkie1 · 13/06/2008 14:32

Pukerlicious - is my XMILs middle name and it embodies everything evil in the world to me!

CristinaTheAstonishing · 13/06/2008 14:31

I think it's a v pretty name.

bellabelly · 13/06/2008 14:28

Bit unfortunate if she lisps. I remember Chris Eubank presentng Top of the Pops and introducing Suggs' smash hit cover version - "TheThelia" by Thuggs. But it is a lovely name.

Tortington · 13/06/2008 12:10

AtheneNoctua · 13/06/2008 11:54

I didn't think I've ever heard of cecelia being shortened to Sissy. Just looked up Sissy Spacek to see what her real name is and it turns out they got Sissy out of Mary Elizabeth. Seems a bit of a stretch .

LadyThompson · 13/06/2008 11:38

Seriously considered it. But my Mum pointed out that it would get shortened to Sissy and that might not go so well at school. Not that it is good to listen to mothers in these matters (the name she gave me wasn't much cop)

DartmoorMama · 13/06/2008 11:34

its nice. different but not odd

cosima · 13/06/2008 11:28

lovely, could be shortened to Sissy like spacek. its cool and posh and girly and classic

margoandjerry · 13/06/2008 11:27

I sing her the chorus, bran

branflake81 · 13/06/2008 11:26

lovely name

margoandjerry · 13/06/2008 11:05

My DD's name . It's beautiful and I love singing her the Simon & Garfunkel song.

Spink · 13/06/2008 10:57

I have a lovely friend called Cecilia, so my associations with it are fab! I love it, it is unusual but not odd, & feminine but not too girly.
We use my friend's full name, but it also gets shortened, to:
Cec, Cecly, Beely, Cecil, Celia.

Go for it!!

AtheneNoctua · 13/06/2008 10:56

I think it's a very pretty name.

Cecile is nice too.
