His full name would be James to give him options but we'd call him Jamie.

The naughty boys from the council estate in the 90s.

I have a son called James, he’s always been known as Jamie (and still is) but now he’s decided to introduce himself to new people as James, he’s 38 now, I think it’s a lovely name

My son-in-law is Jamie and it really suits him. I like it as a name, suits any age range I think!

ladygindiva · 18/01/2026 21:55

Outlander
Fab name

ImpatientlyWaitingForSummer · 18/01/2026 21:34

I love it but I know two Jamies and they're both very handsome and lovely men so I probably just have a positive association to the name 😅

Boys at school in the 90s

My late DB was called Jamie (his proper name was James). I always loved the name and called my DS' middle name James after his late uncle.❤️

Everyone I know with that name has been extremely good looking.😳 I also know a child version and if he’s anything like his dad, he will be too.
They’ve all been decent blokes.

PGmicstand · 16/01/2026 22:47

It used to make me think of Jamie Oliver (who I find annoying), but since my teen recently started watching Stranger Things it makes me think of Jamie Campbell Bower, who can (in my opinion) be as naughty as he likes.

ABeerInTheSunshineMakesMeHappy · 16/01/2026 22:44

There were a few Jamies in school with my DS (born early 2000’s). I like it.

PickleSarnie · 16/01/2026 22:28

I've never met a Jamie that wasn't nice.

But I do always get the (excellent) theme tune for this stuck in my head....

What does the name Jamie bring to mind?
brightnails · 14/01/2026 18:20

the 80s and it being a girls name

NotMeNoNo · 14/01/2026 18:00

I think James is the perfect name. It's timeless and classless. Jamie is a great diminutive. The only problem might be it's too popular as it's never been out of top 20.

downunder50 · 14/01/2026 17:53

Jamie and the Magic Torch - showing my age there. Love James/Jamie.

Onefortheroad25 · 14/01/2026 17:07

I love the name Jamie! Would have been a runner if we’d had another boy.
I picture someone cool, fun, popular, sporty and good looking. Jamie’s are almost always good looking! ☺️

Tiredofwhataboutery · 14/01/2026 17:04

Ive known a fair few Jamie’s I tend to associate with burly Scottish blokes.

Whosthetabbynow · 14/01/2026 17:02

Lovely name ❤️

RegalDiamondMonster · 14/01/2026 16:40

Really like Jamie. Dislike James actually, knew a less than nice James and there's something bland and stuffy about it.

Samdelila · 14/01/2026 16:18

I like it, but James is better.

ZiggyZowie · 14/01/2026 16:13

I've got a Jamie, full name James.

He's now 30 and although we've always called him Jamie he says he prefers James and that's what his work mates call him.

He feels Jamie is too childish now.

CoffeeChocolateWine · 14/01/2026 16:12

It brings to mind my DBro! He is a James but always known as Jamie although uses James professionally. It’s a great name 😊

Mugtree · 14/01/2026 16:09

I think it's sweet in a small child but all the Jamies I've known who've grown up to responsible adults reverted to James once their careers took off. The ones who still use Jamie still think their childishness and irresponsibility is sweet.

I do know a lot of Jameses

pouletvous · 14/01/2026 16:08

Prefer Jimmy
