His full name would be James to give him options but we'd call him Jamie.

@massinsaln Can't believe we're the only ones who went for an immediate Theakston ref!! Very strong association in my mind. Are you by any chance an elder millennial 😂

Surroundedbyfools · 15/07/2026 20:28

I really like James/Jamie. I actually called my second born Jamie for an hour or so but he just didn’t feel and look like a Jamie even though I liked the name x

Kevinbaconsrealwife · 15/07/2026 20:20

It reminds me of a particularly hot night with a guy in 1990 😉…sorry OP, no help to you but……sigh x

Jamie Oliver

MidnightMeltdown · 15/07/2026 17:04

I grew up in the 90s/early 00s and all the Jamie’s were little horrors so I don’t have good associations with it I’m afraid!

Oblahdeeoblahdoe · 15/07/2026 17:01

My James was a Jamie when he was small (or sweet baby James) now he's a Jim, to everybody but me.

Sillygoose123 · 15/07/2026 16:36

I think of Jamie Oliver (but that's not necessarily a bad thing) 😂

notacooldad · 15/07/2026 16:35

What comes to mins is my SIL,, that's her name. Its not shortened for anything
My nephew, he used to be called Jamie but since being an adult prefers James. He found ' Jamie' to childish. I dont think so though.

TallShip · 03/02/2026 22:21

My DGS. He is Jamie not James.

Everybody’s talking about Jamie …

madeofmore · 02/02/2026 01:21

Jamie is a beautiful name. Jamies are fab!
They can also have the name James, Jamie, Jimmy or Jim at different points by family, friends or themselves if they want.
It makes me think of the line 'Rockabye sweet baby James' by James Taylor.

Kumquatzest · 19/01/2026 16:28

Jamie Oliver.
I'd assume a Jamie is probably relatively young (older men named James tend to go by Jimmy or Jim in my experience).
It can also be a unisex name, especially in North America e.g. Jamie Lee Curtis.

Bigearringsbigsmile · 19/01/2026 13:14

Alan Rickman in truly madly deeply was a Jamie

FunnyOrca · 19/01/2026 12:21

James is a great name. Definitely a good child, not the brightest but puts in effort. Becomes a loving father and enjoys windsurfing at EuroParcs in his middle age.

Jamie is a lovely child too and as above, but with a streak of mischief, at least one teacher suggests getting assessed for ADHD, leaves important documents on trains.
