Priya Matilda - opinions?

Hey, what’s everyone’s opinion on the name Priya, paired with the middle name Matilda?

I am half Indian, so I’m okay with the fact that the name has a cultural assumption.

Matilda is the name of my sister.

We already have two children, Isaac and Cassia.
This baby is our last.

Great choice, @Bluebunnie .

Lovely ☺️ I love the name Priya!

Helpmefindmysoul · 10/01/2026 15:56

Sorry I don’t like the combination or the name priya. The name priya also doesn’t flow well with the names of your other children.

Matilda Rani which @Obeseandashamed suggested is much nicer.

Alternative Indian names: Ria, Anaya, Alia, Sia / Siya, Arya, Diya, Jia, Hina. Nikita, Nisha, Tara,

Priya is such a beautiful name. And Matilda is your sister, so that is beautiful in itself. I don’t think they really ‘go together’ just because they are not the same origin language, but I think it’s a lovely name overall.

I love it

LadyKenya · 10/01/2026 15:33

Priya is a lovely name.

Obeseandashamed · 10/01/2026 15:31

I’m not so keen on Priya with Matilda unless it’s the other way round. I like Matilda Rani or Jaya Matilda.

BaronessBomburst · 10/01/2026 15:28

I like it. It's a really nice combination.

Smartiepants79 · 10/01/2026 15:26

Both pretty and you have good reasons for choosing them. Go for it.

CoffeeBeansGalore · 10/01/2026 15:25

Makes me think of the car toyota prius. Cassia is really pretty so I'd go for something in a similar vein. Matilda is nice.

murasaki · 10/01/2026 15:21

I really like it. Both are lovely and they work together.

HoseGoblin · 10/01/2026 15:20

I love both names, they're so pretty. Together they sound like a very tenacious YA novel protagonist, I like it!
