Priya Matilda - opinions?

Hey, what’s everyone’s opinion on the name Priya, paired with the middle name Matilda?

I am half Indian, so I’m okay with the fact that the name has a cultural assumption.

Matilda is the name of my sister.

We already have two children, Isaac and Cassia.
This baby is our last.

I like it. It sounds pretty

I like it. I wouldn't use Priya unless there was an Indian connection, but as there is, it's fine. They go well together - unusual but it really works. The initials PM are also quite cool Grin

Provided the surname doesn't start with T!

I’m not so keen on Priya with Matilda unless it’s the other way round. I like Matilda Rani or Jaya Matilda.

I was going to say I like it the other way round: Matilda Priya.

I also think it sits slightly better with Cassia and Isaac.

FlorenceAndTheVagine · 13/01/2026 17:43

I love the name Priya. I don’t think it flows with Matilda though, if I’m honest. But if you love them and it means something to you, then go for it! Both lovely names.

Ok I should have said Western names - or at least not so obviously Indian names. Perhaps the OP doesn’t care about similar vibe names for her kids though 🤷🏻‍♀️

Yes, honestly I’m not too bothered about their names ‘going together’, as they’ll only be addressed as a set for a small portion of their lives.

I’d only be put off if their names together had any negative associations I was unaware of, or was hard for me to say all at once.

But yeah, I’m okay with them all having their own vibe.

None of the older children have english first names

Matilda Priya goes better with your other kids names. I'm half Indian, half English and me and most of my siblings have English names and one brother has an Indian name and always hated that he was different, so much so that when he was 18 he changed his name.

Lovely choice

Fruityxx99 · 13/01/2026 05:48

We must have similar tastes lol! Isaac is my favourite boys name but hubby wouldn’t let me use it!

Cassia was on my list for my baby girl and I absolutely adore Priya but didn’t use it as was worried about cultural appropriation.

Go for it, the 3 siblings names work lovely together!

aaaheatedblanket · 11/01/2026 10:58

Also Cassia is GORGEOUS

aaaheatedblanket · 11/01/2026 10:58

It sounds lovely and the "a" endings flow well together. It's very pretty ✨

Lovely

Pettenell · 11/01/2026 05:58

I think that it's a lovely name combination, and Priya sounds nice with the siblings. Priya and Matilda go so well together, and both are good names!

Giraffehaver · 10/01/2026 23:25

Really lovely

user1492757084 · 10/01/2026 22:52

Love the name Priya Matilda.

Isaac, Cassia and Priya .. perfect.

other option ..
Pari Matilda

Screamingabdabz · 10/01/2026 22:30

I love both names but not together. It’s a clash and too many consonants.

justsayitonemoretime · 10/01/2026 22:27

Priya Matilda is lovely; and the two names flow nicely together. As always, it's the surname that has to work nicely with the first name, which I'm sure it likely does!

MagicStarrz · 10/01/2026 16:49

I don't think they go well together and it sounds a bit try hard to me but it's your choice ultimately

JoleneYouCanHaveHim · 10/01/2026 16:48

It’s really lovely

DramaAlpaca · 10/01/2026 16:38

A big Yes from me.

feetfirst39 · 10/01/2026 16:32

I like both names but I don't think they go well together.

In reality though that doesn't matter much because most people don't really use their middle names often.

GoodVibesHere · 10/01/2026 16:26

Matilda (not Matlida!)

GoodVibesHere · 10/01/2026 16:26

I love Priya Matlida, it's beautiful.
