Due a baby next month, sex unknown

What do you think of Heidi for a girl?

Still need a boys name! My other boys have uncommon names, definitely the only ones in their class / school so want something along these lines.

Suggestions most welcome 😊

Really nice. Lovely name.

Pettenell · 29/12/2025 22:46

I don't like it. It feels like a perpetual insubstantial little girl's name. The link with Peter is that he and Heidi play with goats on the mountain.

Giraffehaver · 29/12/2025 22:41

I grew up with a horrible second cousin Heidi and yes she was Swiss but memories of her have faded and I really like it now. I think it's sassy

Love it!!! And Peter would be the obvious boy’s name…!!!

Sorry I don't get the connection 🤣

I do love Peter though, it was my grandads name!

Love it. Well known name but not over used I don’t think. I don’t know any. Sweet and sort of exotic but quite chic as an adult. It’s its own nickname too - don’t know how you’d shorten it… maybe Dee.

awrbc81 · 29/12/2025 21:09

I like it, it’s not super common but everyone will know it and no issues with pronunciation or spelling

mdinbc · 29/12/2025 21:06

It's lovely. I associate it with blond hair, so bonus if your little girl is fair.

Silverbirchleaf · 29/12/2025 21:06

Really like Heidi.

My DD had one in her year and they are turning 25 now. I think it’s a lovely name and not over used so hadn’t aged badly

NuffSaidSam · 29/12/2025 21:00

I'm not keen.

My DC (reception) has a Heidi in her year at school, but she's the only one I know.

ahhshucks · 29/12/2025 20:58

I love it. It was on my list. I picture a quirky, feisty, strong little girl who loves being in nature.

DarkEyedSailor · 29/12/2025 20:54

I like it, I know a lovely little Heidi.

DancingPony · 29/12/2025 20:53

Lovely!

BoleynMemories13 · 29/12/2025 20:52

It's not my personal style, I find it a bit twee. Hi-dee-hi campers!

However, all that matters is that you both like it. Don't get too hung up on what may or may not be repeated at school though as there are no guarantees. We have several children at our school with top 20 names who are the only ones (some top 20 names we don't even have any of). Yet some pretty random names have been duplicated. Pick a name because you love it, not because it's not overly popular in the national stats.

JDM625 · 29/12/2025 20:42

Its lovely. Not overly common, most people can pronounce and spell- I really like it.
