Is Deborah too dated/old?

Spent this afternoon looking through the baby name book with dh. We both like Deborah as it has the strong feel that we both gravitate towards. I've not heard it used for a while. Is it too dated?

Every Debbie I met was nice but the name isn't suited for a girl in 2026 it sounds so old fashioned and not in a trendy way, at least not yet.
If you like older names how about Edith, Eleanor, Daphne, Judith, Rebekah/Rebecca, Jessica, Rosamund

Loads of them in my school year in the 80s, all of them nicknamed Deb or Debs - very rarely a Debbie. Not keen, personally.

Yes

PortSalutPlease · 26/12/2025 18:27

It’s very 80s

ACynicalDad · 26/12/2025 18:26

I think it’s awful, sorry.

RaininSummer · 26/12/2025 18:25

I like it and the ones I know are in their fifties and sixties.

I have a wonderful aunt called Deborah, shes fab, clever, funny and beautiful. I think it's a classic name due a revival.

Mumsntfan1 · 26/12/2025 18:20

Her name was Deborah, Deborah it never suited her!
Reminds me of the Pulp song but I like the name. Could also use Debs or Debbie if she doesn't like the full name.

AllPlayedOut · 26/12/2025 18:17

It’s awful. It’s such an unattractive name.

Emanwenym · 26/12/2025 18:15

It's fine. She'll probably be Debs or Debbie.

Rituelec · 26/12/2025 18:15

Horrible sorry

PollyPlumPeach · 26/12/2025 18:15

Very 80s. Sorry it sounds trashy to me

AudiobookListener · 26/12/2025 18:15

I like it.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 26/12/2025 18:14

It’s lovely and there won’t be another in their year group most probably. It’s an underused classic.

MumChp · 26/12/2025 18:13

No.
