Birth month as a name? & thoughts on my list

first baby due in June, having a surprise! Very excited. I’m certain I’ve considered every name possible but can you make any more suggestions based on the following…

I have always liked the name June, it’s in my top 5 names but now the baby is due in June I don’t know if it’s vetoed. What are your thoughts?

Jude - doubt we will use as it’s so so common

I absolutely LOVE June. Not all June's are born in June but probably the majority are.
June Elizabeth is gorgeous.
Of your boy names, I love Evan and Leo. Round here, Leo is far more popular than Jude.
Evan Ray would be a lovely nod to the summer connection.

I don’t want to out myself but the baby is due on my milestone birthday, in June! So it’s extra special.

@TappyGilmorethats a really fair observation! I guess I don’t mind more common girl names, especially if they are traditional names.

I struggle with boy names a lot, I’m yet to find a boy name I absolutely love. I could be wrong but it feels like to me there is less variety with boy names and to every 10 Olivia’s there are 100 Oliver’s or Noah’s or Leo’s.

I think if I’m honest with myself, if I could choose the sex of the baby, it would be a girl. So maybe I’m just a bit biased and want to find excuses to not use certain boy names, I don’t know!

The baby is already loved though, whatever they are. And if it is a boy, he will still need a name!

It really doesn’t help that I see about 50 newborns a week at work so I’m constantly hearing baby names!

I don't think it has any links to June but I do love it. Perhaps because I work with children too and know exactly what you mean about influences, I've known two that were both absolute sweethearts!

June is lovely and very appropriate for a baby girl born in June.
You could go with Juno if you wanted to reduce the association. But June is lovely.

From your lists, I love Chatlotte and Louis (lou-ee).

I quite like June and would only use it for a June baby! Bit weird if born in any other month.

From your lists, I’m not really getting a feel for what you like. You’ve vetoed Jude and Luca as too common, but the other names on your list seem equally popular. Charlotte must be the most popular name ever. Evan is probably the only name you have that isn’t super popular. (And of course June isn’t really popular.)

June is a very sweet name. I met a 4 year old Junie a couple of years ago and she was lovely. She proudly told me her birthday was June 17th. It's always stuck in my mind. Just adorable

@Hazelmaybeno it reminds me of the film and sounds a bit made up to me.
I like that June is a bit oldeyworldy. I agree it’s due a revival!
I like classic names, that’s why I love Elizabeth, Grace, Lilian, Charlotte. That’s why Juno doesn’t fit for me.

A June born in June would make sense, and I have never had the pleasure of meeting a little June before!

I love the spelling of Elisabeth. I have a Grace (one syllable on purpose), which everyone extends to 'Gracie'... so if that would grate on you, it might be one for a middle name, lovely though it is!

I have 2 aunts and a MIL called June and all were born in June ...

I quite like it, maybe due a comeback (they are 70s/80s). The main character in A Handmaids Tale was younger and called June so maybe commoner in Canada/US?

I know an 18y old Lillian. Suits her and the other 18y olds don't know it's "an old lady name" iyswim. In fact lots of them are names like Arthur, Louis, Elsie, George etc and they see them as entirely normal/contemporary.

Thanks for your responses! seems that the birth month thing is quite split.
@colddarkdarkcoldknows what I mean, it almost seems a bit twee. That’s probably only because the Mays, Junes, Aprils and one August I have known weren’t born in those months.

June is also mine and my Nana’s birth month (babe is due on my milestone birthday!) which makes it all the more special.

@Heckateah yes! Amryrth is the name of one of the lovely doctors I work with. When I first heard her introduce herself to one of our ladies I was struck by how lovely it sounded. It’s an Indian name. I added it to the list almost so I wouldn’t forget it after hearing it. It’s not a name I would likely use, it’s not my style, but I do think it sounds lovely.

Some good suggestions to think about too! I’ve worked with children and families my entire career so hear ALOT of names and have a lot of positive and negative name associations which makes it all the more difficult. Girls names are a lot easier I find!

I work in a large primary school and I would say Leo is far more common than Jude and Luca (although there are a lot of those too!)
There's a Leo in almost 2/3 classes!

Juno? Works for either sex. People might presume Juno is female because of the proximity to June but hey, its nearly 2026, and you can do you.

I really like Merryn for a girl and don't dislike any of your other short or long list names. They’re all fine to my ears.

Plenty of people with month or season names are not born in that month or season. It's just a name. June is a nice choice whenever she's born.

I also like best Grace, Louis and Leo from your lists.

I have a month name, but was not born in that month. I have had to explain this surprisingly often. If you go for a month name, it's best to make sure its their birth month.

June for a June baby is lovely; but as someone else said, most people who meet her won’t know her birth month, in case it bothers you.
