Which would you choose from our final Top 2?

Baby is nearly here and we don't know if it's a boy or a girl. This is our third. Our older two don't have any kind of theme in their names and neither name is in the Top 100 for the UK - not that that's a requirement this time!

Our top choice for a girl are Nancy and Celeste.

For a boy, it's Rudy and Lucien.

What are your thoughts? Which would you choose?

Nancy is OK - a bit Oliver Twist, not an adult’s name to me.

Celeste - I’d assume you’re French - I’m too British to pull this off!

Rudy - it’s a nickname. “Rude”. I’d assume you’re American.

Lucien - the only one I’ve known was bullied for it I’m afraid - a bit posh. Depends on your circumstances!

I think these are all nice names. Rudy is cool and is becoming more popular, you're ahead of the curve. I probably prefer Celeste to Nancy.
I prefer Cecelia though. Lucien is ok.

I love Nancy.

Your boy names are not my taste, sorry.
For a boy - Clancy

Lemonlimonade · 24/12/2025 07:05

Not of Lucien is pronounced Looshan - that’s horrible imo

Xanadu58 · 23/12/2025 21:33

Nancy and Lucien

mathanxiety · 23/12/2025 20:47

Nancy and Rudy.

Celeste is nice but Lucien is not, imo. I've heard it pronounced both Looshen and Loo-see-en and I think your child would have a good deal of trouble on that score.

Theextraordinaryisintheordinary · 23/12/2025 20:44

At a push, Celeste

Theextraordinaryisintheordinary · 23/12/2025 20:44

Love both girls’ names.

Boys’ names not keen. Think of an American Rudi/Rudy or the devil. Sorry. Girls names are lush x

DallasMajor · 23/12/2025 20:24

Lucien is gorgeous (as pp said Lucia for a girl)

Both girls names are fine, probably prefer Celeste (but not as much as Lucia!)

BatsInHibernation · 23/12/2025 20:20

I love both Nancy and Celeste, equally, in different ways. I would choose between them based on fit with surname and middles, and sibling names.
If it were me, I would choose Nancy.
I'm not keen on Rudy, because the word 'Rudey' is very much in my lexicon for, well, rude things.i like Lucien, it's a lovely name.
Nancy and Lucien for me, congrats.

MajesticWhine · 23/12/2025 19:42

Nancy and Rudy.

YellowStockings · 23/12/2025 19:30

I LOVE Lucien (and Lucia for a girl)! Of your two girl names I like Nancy best.

mustytrusty · 23/12/2025 19:02

Nancy and Rudy

Svolvaer · 23/12/2025 18:58

Nancy for the girl’s name, Celeste sounds a bit “posh” and Selly as a possible nickname isn’t great.

Boy’s name - I work in a primary school, I can see Rudy being teased for being “rude” and Lucien lends itself to the nickname Lucy I’m afraid, it certainly would among the children I know.

CauliflowerCheese00 · 23/12/2025 18:58

I seriously hope you have a girl.

Lucien is honestly one of my least favourite names. Makes me think of the devil, or the bully of a kids tv show from the 00s. It sounds horrible.

Rudy just sounds like rude. We use it all the time to say things to the kids like “are you being a rudey nudey” when they’re playing around after a bath.

Such weird try hard names to choose.

Lucien and Celeste. I love those.

These.

BobblyBobbleHat · 23/12/2025 18:27

Nancy is lovely, the boys names are just not my cup of tea so I'd struggle to choose between them.

Forever1973 · 23/12/2025 18:25

Celeste and Lucien

MrsDoomsPatterson1 · 23/12/2025 18:24

Nancy and Lucien/Lucian (sorry, know a couple of Lucians so the e spelling seems a bit unexpected to me)

LoudPlumDog · 23/12/2025 17:50

Celeste and Lucien.

imcurrentlyeatingpizza · 23/12/2025 17:48
