Samuel goes with the other names better. How about Daniel

Alexandrine · 21/12/2025 18:39

I like both Alexander and Henry but Samuel was the first one I thought of, without even seeing your list. Stick with the classic Biblical style - Jake, Ben and Sam sound great together.

awrbc81 · 21/12/2025 17:44

I like them all but Samuel goes with the other names better, although if you don’t want any short versions I would go for Henry as it’s the least likely to be shortened.
My favourite of the 3 is Alexander.

Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Asher, Dan...maybe steer clear of Joseph though.

I came here to say this and PP beat me to it.
Caleb? Gad? Levi?

Muhammad

I don't think Henry works as well as Samuel or Alexander do with your existing names.

I can't really say why exactly but instinctively it sounds wrong.

JillyGiraffe · 21/12/2025 07:31

Alexander

How about Thomas or Tobias?

JauntyRedShoes · 21/12/2025 06:31

Samuel goes really well with the other names. I do like Reuben and Seth or Saul. So many great names on the list.

Silverbirchleaf · 21/12/2025 06:21

Samuel out of your list.

Daniel was the first suggestion I thought of, followed by Zachary.

CurlewKate · 21/12/2025 05:20

If you don’t like the shortening, don’t use the name. You absolutely can’t control what other people call your children. I’d go for Henry of those three-although you might get Harry! Incidentally, obviously it doesn’t matter, but I might assume that Jacob, Benjamin and Samuel were a Jewish family.

Pettenell · 21/12/2025 04:24

They're all good names but I would choose Alexander.

SnowFrogJelly · 21/12/2025 00:59

Matthew

LivingTheDreamish · 21/12/2025 00:55

Samuel to round out the biblical theme (not that they are overtly biblical so that needn't put you off if it's not your thing!).

TheMotherSide · 20/12/2025 23:18

Late to the party to suggest you keep with the 12 tribes of Israel theme. My favourite is Zebulun.

Mayflower282 · 20/12/2025 23:12

Benjamin and Jacob from the bible?

Benjamin had 11 older brothers:

  1. Reuben
  2. Simeon
  3. Levi
  4. Judah
  5. Dan
  6. Naphtali
  7. Gad
  8. Asher
  9. Issachar
  10. Zebulun
  11. Joseph
Giraffehaver · 20/12/2025 22:37

Samuel

ineedhelp37 · 20/12/2025 20:24

Joshua

TomatoSandwiches · 20/12/2025 19:49

Samuel

I also thought Gabriel reading the title of your post, nn Gabe.

GiddyCrab · 20/12/2025 19:33

Samuel is lovely.

You could use all 3.

Samuel Henry Alexander.
Lovely name.

AyrshireTryer · 20/12/2025 19:32

Joseph, Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Zebulun, Dan, Naphtali, Gad, Asher

Like all the names but I think Samuel would go very well.

couldthisbe2501 · 20/12/2025 19:25

I like them all but I’d pick Matthew!

Cotswoldmama · 20/12/2025 19:25

Thomas or James

DallasMajor · 20/12/2025 18:52

I thought Samuel before opening the thread and seeing your choices.
