Emily Jane, Emily Rose or Emily Elizabeth?

We chose Emily because it’s classic and simple and would like a timless middle name to go with it and we’re choosing between these. I know You can’t really go wrong with any of them but I’d appreciate your thoughts.

thank you

Cordelia Emily is even nicer imo

That does sound lovely. Both are pretty names I think

Wasn't there a film called the exorcism of Emily Rose? Not that one. Both the others are nice.

First thing that came to mind for me, too. Wouldn't be using that one

julesagain · 16/12/2025 23:07

I say Emily Jane flows well and is not as popular as Emily Rose. My niece is Emily Jane

Advocodo · 16/12/2025 22:50

Emily rose

Velvian · 16/12/2025 22:46

I thunk Emily, followed by a 1 syllable name.
Emily Maeve
Emily Ruth
Emily Fay
Emily Kate
Emily Eve
Or
Emma Elizabeth

Sorry, but the majority of those sound terrible! 😬

Especially

Emily Adrienne
Emily Guinevere
Emily Christianne
Emily Philippa

I think a one syllable name suits Emily best (as a middle name.)

I'm having trouble even saying some of those (especially Emily Iona with too many vowels in quick succession, and Emily Philippa with too many Ls.) I have done a lot of public speaking in my career so I'm not especially challenged on that front, but I do think they are borderline tongue twisters.

ETA Emily Iona is reminiscent of Old McDonald: e-i-e-i-o (except e-i-y-i-o-a)

Emily is such a beautiful first name. Same as Elizabeth. I like Rose too, and Jane. But I don't much like these connected. I know an Emma Jane. And that has a better bounce to it. I'd go for something completely off the wall and different. So for me it's a no for all.

"Bounce" is a really good description and I know exactly what you mean - although ironically I think to me Emily Jane has exactly that: great bounce!

Calliopespa · 16/12/2025 22:30

I love both Rose and Elizabeth, but I think Emily Elizabeth doesn't flow well, and sounds somehow "forced" - as though you decided on both names without thinking how they worked together.

I don't think it matters too much that Rose is a common middle name BUT I do think it maybe matters a little more that the combination Emily Rose has been very common, so I'd go for Emily Jane.

I think Emily Jane has a lovely classic feel, flows well and is not a combination I have heard used much at all, which is surprising given how well it works.

Xcxcxcxc · 16/12/2025 22:24

Emily Anne is nice.
Emily Claire as well.

Lemonlimonade · 16/12/2025 13:42

It will depend on how common your surname is.

With a popular surname I would avoid a very common first name, as it can lead to identity fraud and problems/confusion!

17caterpillars1mouse · 16/12/2025 13:30

Anything except Emily Rose. The world doesn't need any more Emily Rose's. I prefer a more unexpected middle name than your choices but from your choices I would choose Emily Jane.

I would suggest Emily Imogen or Emily Hannah

hby9628 · 16/12/2025 12:52

I’ve got an Emily Grace. Ironically she’s not that graceful

DorianTempest · 16/12/2025 12:50

Emily Jane

Jane Emily is beautiful

LeftBoobGoneRogue · 16/12/2025 12:15

Emily Grace

UrsulaBelle · 16/12/2025 12:01

I think Emily Jane sounds the best, but you could go for Emily Jean or Emily Joan for a bit of variety. Jean is quite a cool name, I think.

Emily is a lovely name and I think Emily Jane is beautiful.

Emily Adrienne
Emily Guinevere

I think a one syllable name suits Emily best (as a middle name.)

Yes that well known classic Christianne (?!?)

The trouble with a single syllable middle name after Emily is because Rose/Grace/May/Hope etc have become so popular it sounds like filler even if it isn't one of those - I suggested one, but I'd find something with more than one syllable if I was OP

theunbreakablecleopatrajones · 16/12/2025 11:27

Emily Eliza
Emily Elsbeth
Emily Jean
Emily Rosanna
Emily Rosalind

They are all nice names individually but Emily Elizabeth doesn't scan well, Emily Jane sounds like a name for a tiny tears doll, and Emily Rose, as PP's say, has been very overdone.

fairycupcakes · 16/12/2025 09:14

The Exorcism of Emily Rose.

So for that reason alone, either of the others!

TappyGilmore · 16/12/2025 09:09

Emily Jane and Emily Rose both sound nice, although not overly original. Emily Elizabeth would be a no from me - it just doesn’t flow at all.

Zov · 16/12/2025 09:09

CoffeeBeansGalore · 15/12/2025 17:13

There are plenty of classic names which aren't the "usual fillers". Or classic but slightly less used.

Emily Charlotte
Emily Adrienne
Emily Guinevere
Emily Celeste
Emily Clarisse
Emily Rachael
Emily Christianne
Emily Philippa
Emily Iona

Emily Rose is the prettiest. Emily is a lovely name!

Bbq1 · 16/12/2025 08:58

Emily Anne

zebrastripesarefun · 16/12/2025 08:09

Emily Rose is my favourite. They are all beautiful names
