Carmen - is it cool or crap?

Know it reminds people of Carmen Electra but she won't be around in 5 years time (hopefully).

Would it work with an english last name or should it be reserved for latin names?

bamboostalks · 10/06/2008 19:13

I've known 3 Carmens and bizarrely, they were all cleaners and Spainish/Spainish descent.

Rodeo · 10/06/2008 19:11

Lovely name

schneebly · 10/06/2008 19:04

I like it

mom2princesses · 10/06/2008 19:03

Also loved Camille as well.

mom2princesses · 10/06/2008 18:59

love it! It was one of my top fave names.

ChicaLovesBranstonPickle · 10/06/2008 18:44

I like it. But I do live in Spain so see it as a perfectly normal name choice. But it works with an English last name as well.

bundle · 10/06/2008 18:27

I know a little girl called Carmen, she's lovely (though there is a reason, her dad is spanish)

ChocolateEclair · 10/06/2008 18:25

I love Carmen! I also grew up with an english girl called Carmen and it really suited her too. I think it's a bit different without beig weird. I don't immediately think of Carmen Electra either!

belcantavinissima · 10/06/2008 17:50

def v cool

wb · 10/06/2008 17:49

I love Carmen, but am also (half) Spanish so its a 'normal' name to me. If I ever have a little girl, she will be Carmen after my much loved (and missed) aunt.

Jojay · 10/06/2008 17:44

Cool

Comerscroft · 10/06/2008 17:39

Reminds me of the Carmen electric heated hair-rollers I had many moons ago.

InLoveWithSweeneyTodd · 10/06/2008 17:27

i like it a lot, but then I am spanish, and the last thing that springs to mind for me is carmen electra tbh. I have got a hundred other references for that beautiful name.

VictorianSqualor · 10/06/2008 17:25

OMG, Carmenere is your name meant to be like 'Carmen 'ere?'
I always read it as one word, I thought it was a liqueur or something

southeastastra · 10/06/2008 17:23

i thought of carmen electra, carmen and dave

AbbeyA · 10/06/2008 17:18

Dislike it.

Buda · 10/06/2008 17:11

Lol at Carmenere!

I worked for an Irish lady called Carmen and she had a DD with the same name. I like it.

Carmenere · 10/06/2008 17:09

lollipopmother · 10/06/2008 17:08

I like this name, it's quite unusual and a bit tropical, I like it!

mum2oandh · 10/06/2008 17:01

wouldnever have considered it, but now you mention it, really like it

Elmosgirl · 10/06/2008 16:58

I really like it, I also liked Carmel, but DP hated both so didn't use either.

Oh and I didn't think of Carmen Electra when I read your title.

Piffle · 10/06/2008 16:54

MaryAnnSingleton · 10/06/2008 16:48
