I'm wondering if any of you lovely ladies could help? Our little girl is due early next year and my partner and I still can't decide on which alternative spelling for 'Ellie' we would like. I'm drawn to either 'Ayllie' or 'Aellee'. Any kind thoughts on it would be appreciated :)

I think it’s cruel and idiotic to give a name with a daft spelling. You might think it’s cool and edgy, the poor child facing a lifetime of spelling it out isn’t going to agree.

HushaBabbee · 13/12/2025 19:46

Well her surname will b 'Adams' so I just wanted the alliteration and Ellie is becoming slightly over used now

Assuming you’re on the wind-up op. Or do you just really, really like vowels..?
I hope you’re not serious anyway, lol…

Ragebait

I reckon.

Otherwise LE is another option

Tiedyeegg · 13/12/2025 19:44

You need to try harder. This one’s too obviously a wind up

SabrinaThwaite · 13/12/2025 19:43

Eilidh? A bit like Ellie but is a proper name.

Nobumsonthetable · 13/12/2025 19:42

Those alternatives are just silly OP. Come on.

Ellie is how to spell Ellie.

Adding additional vowels helps no one.

ShawnaMacallister · 13/12/2025 19:41

Why the hell would you do this to another person?

MakingPlans2025 · 13/12/2025 19:41

Unless this is a joke 🙄

purpleme12 · 13/12/2025 19:41

Well they're a different sound at the beginning of the name aren't they. So it's a different name full stop.

MakingPlans2025 · 13/12/2025 19:41

She would spend her life having to spell it out. What is the issue with just calling her Ellie?
