Sister for Ottilie and Astoria

SJone0101 · 10/12/2025 12:58

I have 2 daughters so far (Ottilie/Ottie and Astoria/Torie), what would you go with for their next sister due in March?

Delilah / Lilah
Persephone / Seffie (I love Roman history)
Florence / Florrie
Adaline / Ada
Violet / Lettie

Please add any extra. I would prefer a name not in the top 20, with the ability to shorten it like the above.

Or Missy.

This may be ok in the USA but in the U.K. there’s connotations of berating an impudent female ‘ right Missy, you do that again and I’ll…’. It’s a bit too naughty little girl IMO.

At my great nieces nursery three is three girls with the name Persephone..it's going to become a common name.. don't they all.
My eldest is 41 and called Freyja ( correct viking spelling) was hardly heard of 40 years ago.. now there are so many called it... although most miss out the silent J.. and spell it Freya.

Sephy!

BuntyBeaufort · 16/12/2025 17:25

Cute names - they could be straight from a Jilly Cooper novel.
Persie could be a nn for Persephone, and if you like Freddie how about Frederica?

Terrytheweasel · 16/12/2025 17:09

I’d go with Persephone and call her phone for short.

Aluna · 16/12/2025 17:07

The Astoria was a club in the 80s I used to go. They were originally a chain of dance halls in the 20s.

Aluna · 16/12/2025 16:47

The name Astoria is named after the Astor family - the Astoria Hotel was a famous hotel in NY founded by John Jacob Astor also founded the town Astoria in Oregon. That’s where Rowling got the name.

curious as to how you chose Astoria - isn't that a hotel brand? Seems v at odds with all the other names you like

It’s a name from Harry Potter and I loved it when I heard it.

I didn’t know it was a hotel brand, and we didn’t name her after the Astor family.

We mainly call her Torie.

I know it’s a bit of an outlier. It’s from the Astor family originally. I’m friends with an Astor so it feels quite cringe to me.

Calliope - I just hear Callipers. I like Callisto though.

We had the Chavs from hell on a holiday to Turkey with us with an Aurelia, And of course, a brother called bear 🐻

Tbh, it could’ve been Charlotte just as likely.
I do hear ‘Calliope’ shouted in the park by a mum I dislike but I still think it’s a nice Greek name.

Aluna · 16/12/2025 09:35

Aurelia is a very pretty name nonetheless.

Blingismything · 16/12/2025 09:14

Leonie -Leo
Gabrielle- Gabsy/Gabby
Elodie-Ellie

Persephone is obvs Greek, not Roman.

Not many people have an Aurelia. I love it and think it would go well with your other dd’s names.

Ottie, Torie and Tiggy are a fabulous combination.

So by that measure, it’s got to be Antigone!

They do go so well together!

We are hoping to have 4 in the long term, so ill be back to find a fourth name!!

Thank you ladies!!

I really do love Persephone but I just know we will come up against spelling situations and general pronunciation problems. I do love Seffie though.

Persephone might also = phony. At least, it would down my way.

bridgetreilly · 15/12/2025 22:27

Winifred nn Freddy

LoudSnoringDog · 15/12/2025 16:56

Florence

luckylavender · 15/12/2025 16:46

I love Florence - would have used it myself but I think Violet goes best with her sisters, Again I would have chosen it had we not had a family member with the exact name and surname. And that was our red line

Everleigh13 · 15/12/2025 14:15

My fave names from your list are Violet and Ada.

Vienna (Vi) is of a similar style.

NoCureForLove · 15/12/2025 14:12

Rita. Nn Rita.
