Too old fashioned?
Or a lovely classic?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Like it, classy name. Blue hotel comes to mind.

blobby10 · 09/12/2025 10:14

Love it - its my middle sons name - he's 27 and his nana still can't spell it Grin. it was very unusual when he was born but now much more popular- never had it shortened although mil(nana) tried to call him Ike.

CrostaDiPizza · 09/12/2025 10:10

People frequently misspell it as Issac This

LivingTheDreamish · 09/12/2025 02:37

Lovely classic!

Smiless · 09/12/2025 00:36

I would pronounce it the saac as "Zack" or at least that's how the parents of the boy I know pronounce it.

I think it's a really lovely name. However we have one in the family and I find it doesn't flow very well when you say the name in conversation. I find it gets pronounced incorrectly where I come from too so people tend to say Izuk. Plus no one can ever seem to remember it, when it comes up in conversation people nearly always pause as if trying to remember the name before saying it.

How else do you pronounce it?

OP, I love the name and haven't met an Isaac for such a long time. Did remind me of a lovely Isaac I used to work with many years ago.

I know a few and none of them are Jewish!

spiderlight · 08/12/2025 23:43

I love it and wish I'd used it for my DS.

JDM625 · 08/12/2025 23:06

My first thought is that you were Jewish. Nothing right/wrong about that, just being honest that its my 1st thought with the name.

Frogbear · 08/12/2025 23:02

Lovely name - a classic but also modern.

Though so many people misspell it as Issac, from all walks of life.

Mariammaom · 08/12/2025 23:00

We know one who got teased with I suck a few times. It also often gets misspelled.

MazeyP · 08/12/2025 22:58

Very hillbilly and 19th century imo

Pranksters · 08/12/2025 22:41

Really popular where I am. I work with kids and it’s not an unusual name at all.

hakunamatata20 · 08/12/2025 22:32

Lovely name! I've always loved it.

I'm also a secondary school teacher but it's not that common in my school. The odd few. It must depend on your area.

Ladybird69 · 08/12/2025 22:14

Lovely lovely name. I’m a retired nanny and one of my favourite little charges was an Isaac, sweet little angel 😇

KilliMonjaro · 08/12/2025 22:10

Love

Lovely name but secondary teacher here and there are loads! I have 3 in one class alone, probably 35+ in school.

Oh wow didn't know it was so popular! My Isaac is the only one in his primary school

Rockfordpeach · 08/12/2025 21:56

My son is an Isaac. It's a lovely name. People frequently misspell it as Issac which annoys him but other than that it is great

BreakingBroken · 08/12/2025 21:55

i'd keep it on the reserve list unless religious.

Superfrog3 · 08/12/2025 21:53

My sons name, it means he who laughs and hes a happy soul! I love it but I am bias.

WWomble · 08/12/2025 21:52

Fabulous name, in my top 3. Only ever taught one, in 2001!

yonem · 08/12/2025 21:52

I love it!

AgentPidge · 08/12/2025 21:51

Lovely classic. I love some of the biblical names not Abishag. Like Gabriel, Seth, Jedediah, Joel, Jonah. Also Tamar, Delilah for girls.
