Love Sylvie! Second choice would be Olive, but I feel like Olivia is so popular it makes Olive feel less distinctive than it should. I wouldn't use Kitty all by itself; it's nice enough as a diminutive of the various Catherine/Katharine names but all by itself it can feel maybe too cutesy? There's nothing objectively wrong with Poppy; it's roughly equivalent to names like Daisy which I WOULD use. I just associate it with affectionate names for a dad (Pop, Papi, etc.) but I am probably strange about that.

Kitty is for a cat

Poppy is really cutsie / little girlie.

Which leaves Sylvie from your list. I've seen it mentioned in Baby names threads a lot over the last year. It wouldn't be my choice, but I guess it must be pretty popular from the number of times it gets a mention on here.

Surely Poppy is getting old now, I know loads aged about 8-16.

Kitty is cute but a bit too cute.

Olive is trendy at the moment but reminds me of an old lady or a drab colour.

Sylvie is your winner! Such a pretty name and will gain popularity but you’ll be among the first. Have you thought about a middle name?

I like poppy the best, it sounds friendly and approachable
Kitty doesn’t sound like a real name and the other two seem old fashioned and stern.

Kitty

Not Poppy. Just so unbearably twee, and classic it's definitely not. OK on a toddler maybe, but as an adult I really wouldn't like to be called Poppy. I just don't like it as a name.

Kitty is adorable as a diminutive for Katherine, but a bit cutesy as a standalone name. I do like it though.

I really like Olive and Sylvie, both have lovely vintage vibes. Of the two, I'd choose Sylvie.

Kitty is slang for vagina according to urban dictionary, cute.

Id go with Poppy.

Dogmum1983 · 24/11/2025 23:14

I love Poppy it’s one of my fav girls names. It suits most girls . Kitty definitely not .

Peternell · 24/11/2025 23:12

My favourite is Sylvie, which feels fresh and bright to me. I'm not keen on Olive which sounds harsh for some reason, and I just think of olive oil. Poppy and Kitty are both friendly and sweet names.

NuffSaidSam · 24/11/2025 22:53

Olive.

Too many girl's names end in the 'ee' sound. I think Olive has a bit of gravitas to it. You can always call her Oli or Livi if you need something cutesy when she's little.

Kippykangarooo · 24/11/2025 22:49

Poppy, it’s pretty and classic.
