Hiya everyone,
I’m due a baby girl in the next 2 weeks so time is running out! We have a shortlist but I’m just not massively convinced by any or can find a negative to each one! Middle name will be Elizabeth as it’s a family tradition on my side.
Which of the following would you choose? Any other suggestions? Any names you love but didn’t get to use?
Jemima
Georgina
Beatrice
Charlotte
Rebecca
Naomi
Thanks guys! x

I love Jemima and Georgina. I like all of your names except Naomi. Here are some other options I like in case it helps-

Clara
Fern
Eva
Clementine

k1233 · 22/11/2025 20:34

I see Naomi shortened to Nomes which I hate.

I've seen Georgina shortened to George. It can be a positive professionally to be mistaken for a man.

ABeerInTheSunshineMakesMeHappy · 22/11/2025 20:28

I like Charlotte Elizabeth, but I can see you have discounted that.

Thanks for the replies.
I think my favourite is Rebecca and my Husbands is Beatrice.
Our surname is one syllable so luckily a longer first and middle name works.
Not heard of Jemima being a dogs name before, but might just be my area.
Unfortunately my husband doesn’t like Eleanor or it would be on the list!

I love Rebecca and also quite like Beatrice. Rebecca has more options to shorten it, which for me is a good thing. Not every Rebecca is a Becky for example, but every Beatrice seems to become Bea/B ime.

I also like Charlotte and would offer Rachel and Miriam too as suggestions

Wait until you see your baby’s face - I picked a name for my son before he was born and as soon as I saw his face I instantly picked one of the names on my shortlist and said that was what I was calling him.

Naomi, it's a lovely, lovely name

Rebecca in second place

AutumnClouds · 22/11/2025 20:20

Jemima! I personally think the puddle duck association is cute when they’re little, and that Jem is a great nickname for an older child with an option on Mimi if that’s more her vibe.

Elizabeth also a great first name. Or Eliza first name, Bethany middle?

OSTMusTisNT · 22/11/2025 20:15

Jemima is a puddle duck name.

I like Georgina from your list, prefer Georgia though.

MamaBanana12 · 22/11/2025 20:12

What about Florence Elizabeth?
or Phoebe Elizabeth

Firebird83 · 22/11/2025 18:57

What about…

Louisa
Helena
Susanna(h)
Miriam
Esther
Caroline

LittleGreenDuck · 21/11/2025 20:33

All lovely names, I'm less keen on Naomi because I'm never sure how to say it!

Make sure the initials don't spell anything you wouldn't want. Surprisingly easy to do when the middle name starts with a vowel. One of mine nearly ended up as R.A.T. or F.A.T. Luckily we spotted it!

Norastroud · 21/11/2025 20:23

My favourites are Jemima (nn Mima) & Georgina (nn Georgie)
Would you consider Elizabeth as the first name, I think it’s a beautiful name which gives so many options Libby, Betsy, Eliza, Beth etc
Goodluck!

rosegarden95 · 21/11/2025 20:19

Georgina

APatternGrammar · 21/11/2025 20:08

Rebecca is fantastic

LetItGoHome · 21/11/2025 20:06

I like Naomi best from your list.
But how about -
Heather
Lucy
Amy
Hazel
Audrey
Isobel
Ingrid

Zempy · 21/11/2025 19:47

I like Charlotte best

Emanwenym · 21/11/2025 19:32

@netflixfan , Middle names are hardly ever used, and IMO shouldn't dictate what the first name should be.
I prefer shorter names anyway.

Alexandrine · 21/11/2025 19:22

I like Beatrice - quite elegant, yet Bee is so sweet on a little one. Classic Philippa is nice too - more uncommon these days and again, Pip is very cute. I don’t really dislike any of your choices though, it’s just the most commonplace nicknames for some of them put me off a bit (for example I’m not so keen on George/Georgie or Becky/Bex).

Sleepnplay · 21/11/2025 10:11

I love Naomi, second choice would be Rebecca. I don't like Beatrice, but love Beatrix, and would choose that in a heartbeat. Good luck!

Nursemumma92 · 21/11/2025 07:23

Jemima is lovely but I know 2 and it's shortened to Mima in both cases. Beautiful name though!

kittywittyandpretty · 21/11/2025 07:22

Jemima is an always will be a duck

ButtonMushrooms · 21/11/2025 07:18

Jemima is my favourite.

pilates · 21/11/2025 07:17

Jemima ❤️

TiddlyToucan · 21/11/2025 07:14

Thanks so much for all these opinions. Everyone seems to like different names - not sure there is much of a consensus!
I think Charlotte is off because I don’t like the shortenings & think they are inevitable.
Also not convinced on the shortenings for Georgina so that might be ruled out too.
I like Philippa from the suggestions but my husband isn’t sure

Charlotte or Jemima, from your list. I’d prefer Cecily, Laetitia or Phoebe though.
