Hi, after many many years of trying, much loss and heartache DH and I finally have a gorgeous baby girl who is now 4 days old. Before she arrived we rarely discussed names, I think out of fear something would go wrong. She is very likely to be our only child.
I love the name Jenna, I’m not exactly sure why but I think it’s gorgeous. DH likes it too but is worried it’s a little dated.
We have discussed other names but none feel quite right.
Middle name will be either Helena, Alexandra, Elizabeth or Paulina (grandparents names or twists on grandparents names).

Thoughts?

I love Jenna!
Congratulations for your baby girl!

Jenna is lovely. If this is likely to be your only child would it be a good idea to honour your mum too with Jenna Elizabeth Helena? You know best your relationship but might sting a bit for your mum for such a long awaited and wanted baby to be named after MIL only.

Congrats on the birth of your daughter! Love the name Jenna.

Congratulations! Jenny is a lovely name.

The only comment I would make is that my mind instantly went to Edward Jenner, the scientist, but that is no bad thing.

Wow you’re much more highbrow than me, when I first saw “Jenna?” I thought - “what’s the special pie today?”
Jenna Hunterson from Waitress, a truly wonderful character and you absolutely can’t go wrong with that name, beautiful.

Moreteaandchocolate · 31/10/2025 15:35

I like it! It’s a little dated but not in a bad way, and it sounds quite refreshing among all the Lila / Layla / Evie / Ava names at the moment - she will very likely be the only Jenna in her school!

I love Jenna, have a niece with the name.

Emanwenym · 31/10/2025 15:24

Congratulations!
I'm not keen on Jenna, but I remember watching Dallas in the 1980s.

It will get said as Jenner if the name after it starts with a vowel.

Pranksters · 31/10/2025 14:45

I love it!

Elizabeth and Alexandra work really well. I know a couple of grown up Jenna’s.

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 31/10/2025 14:44

Congratulations, OP! I usually cringe a little bit at the names suggested for babies, but I think Jenna is lovely and not dated at all. I agree that Helena might not be the easiest of middle names to pair with it, but really, how often are people's entire names used? Any of the middle names are good.

Jenna is lovely name as long as your surname isn't Taylor

I went to school with someone with that exact name!

user2848502016 · 31/10/2025 14:43

Congratulations!

Jenna Elizabeth is pretty
I suppose it is a bit dated but I don’t think that matters if you both love it

Elsandbels · 31/10/2025 14:42

Thank you everyone. Jenna Elizabeth probably does flow best, MIL will be over the moon!

Again sorry for posting on the wrong board, I really didn’t mean to!

It is dated. My cousin is late 30s with that name and it was all the rage back then.

Go with one of the classics. Alexandra is lovely. Alex, Ali, Lexi, etc plenty of NNs.

Elizabeth and Helena too are lovely.

Edited

I know plenty of little Jenna's so wouldn't consider it dated.

Icepop79 · 31/10/2025 14:41

Love the name but definitely not Helena as the middle name. Too much risk of them being pronounced to rhyme, even if the intention is for the other pronunciation of Helena.

Congratulations!

Jenna is a very pretty name!

Depending on surname Jenna Elizabeth might work best to avoid two “a” sounds at the end but all the suggested names are lovely.
