Is it well liked?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Love it for a girl. Find it very wet for a boy.
But for a girl I think it’s pretty yet cool. Timeless and ageless and can be shortened to lots of things other than Rob. Like the nature element too. Gorgeous.

Lillith is Frasiers annoying ex wife!
Genevieve - King Arther!
Hazel and Sylvia are friends in their 60s!

Im with your husband in this Robyn is the vibe!

Guinevere not Genevieve actually but that was also on my list at one point 😂
Hazel is top 100, up 177 places in 2024 so on the rise and I’ll give you Sylvia/a being an old lady name but that’s why I love it 😂
DH list is full of cutesy names that I can’t see on a grown woman 😅

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 29/10/2025 15:44

Really like it. But mainly because of Ellacott I think!

My other names have all been rejected by DH at the moment 😂 not sure if Robyn is a bit of an outlier because it’s sentimental for us both but other names I love are
Hazel
Sylvie/Sylvia
Lillith
Genevieve

I know both a Lilith and a Genevieve - they both HATE their names and are alway Lily and Ginny.

Completely untrue, there are loads of female Robins.
I think it is a much nicer spelling

That's why I said "usually" 🙂

tartyflette · 29/10/2025 15:24

American. Overdone.

Moreteaandchocolate · 29/10/2025 15:22

I like it. I’m not so keen on the nn options but it’s only 2 syllables so doesn’t need a nn. I think it’s versatile and suits a child, a cool teen and adult.

PflumPfeffer · 29/10/2025 15:22

It clicked for us as all the girls were being named Ruby at the time and we liked it but we wanted dd to be named after someone important from history (as DS was). So we gave her Robyn (as in Robin Hood). We dithered over Robin or Robyn but decided to go with the established non-US girl’s version so she wouldn’t get any mix-ups when older. She was also a Christmas baby.

Needmorelego · 29/10/2025 14:58

Nice name.
Robyn with a Y is usually the girls spelling. Robin with an I is for boys.
As someone who has a unisex but spelled different name please get that one correct 😂

That's Guinevere!

But idiots like me will mix it up!
It also sounds like a cake!

DoubleDuvet · 29/10/2025 15:16

Ellacott

I think it's lovely, elegant and not too girly or "frilly".

Indecisive1011 · 29/10/2025 14:57

This is my worry!!

We use nn Bobbin when she was little or now Bob (a family in-joke Blackadder reference as her middle name is Kate). Bobbi (as in the famous makeup artist Bobbi Brown) is also less masculine.

I love it
It’s in my top 3 names for DD due January
Only thing that’s stopping me is having the nn Rob which reminds me of a middle aged man 😅😂

Bin/Byn would be a worse nn!

I'm not keen on it TBH. The only male Robin I've known was a bit of a twat.

I quietly think of Kermits cousin sitting on the stairs singing! Although i think thats Robin.

But I do love the name. Its not a very baby name but its a really cool adult name! I think all the F Robyns (and M Robins) ive known have been cool people!

MrsKateColumbo · 29/10/2025 14:53

Nice! Could be for a person any age/class etc so doesnt pigeon hole them
