Is it well liked?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
pippapipps · 29/10/2025 18:54

My brother is Robin so to me I can't associate it with being a girls name

Grizelofthechaletschool · 29/10/2025 18:53

I’ve got a Robyn. I like Rob or Robbie as a nickname though - I think boys’ names on girls is cute!

SushiDisco · 29/10/2025 18:52

stripper on desperate housewives 🤣

In all seriousness I think it’s a lovely name, but prefer it for girls.

Livpool · 29/10/2025 18:45

I like it - reminds me of both singers that I like (Rihanna’s first name is Robyn). It doesn’t seem to be a particular age either

strawberrymadam · 29/10/2025 18:43

I think it should be spelt Robin, but otherwise love it for both girls & boys.

34ransum · 29/10/2025 18:34

Christmas

Rihanna

I love it for a girl, hate it for a boy

NewEnglandWeekend · 29/10/2025 18:32

It makes me think of The Robin from The Chalet School books.

I like the name but not spelled with a Y.

cotedazur28 · 29/10/2025 17:41

I teach a Robyn and she’s a delight.

GingerPaste · 29/10/2025 17:39

I like it!

Namehelp987654321 · 29/10/2025 17:39

Absolutely love the name Robyn (although, personally, slightly prefer the Robin spelling)

HaughtyAndCold · 29/10/2025 16:11

I love it, and have nothing but positive vibes for it.

HillOf · 29/10/2025 16:10

It reminds me of David Lodge’s Nice Work, where a literature academic does a sort of work shadowing scheme with a local foundry manager, and there’s a mix-up because everyone at the foundry thinks a man is going to arrive because they think she’s called Robin Penrose rather than Robyn.

Confusedmermaid1 · 29/10/2025 15:04

My other names have all been rejected by DH at the moment 😂 not sure if Robyn is a bit of an outlier because it’s sentimental for us both but other names I love are
Hazel
Sylvie/Sylvia
Lillith
Genevieve

Robin -no need for the Y is beautiful and simple yet different from so many repeated current names.
I visualise a little rosy cheeked cherub with that name, i also like your other options very much.

PauliesWalnuts · 29/10/2025 16:05

The Robyn I know is 19, feisty, funny, and ambitious (athlete). She’s amazing and I wish I had had half the self confidence she has.

CoucouCat · 29/10/2025 16:02

Indecisive1011 · 29/10/2025 14:58

What are your other names if you dont mind me asking? Don't worry if you dont wish to share! :)

you could nn Bobbie

ApathyCentral · 29/10/2025 16:01

Well, I usually think ‘batman’.

I like it though.

Favouritefruits · 29/10/2025 15:59

There’s a little girl called Robyn in my sons class and the poor thing is not very well cared for and scruffy so it reminds me of her but b4 this it reminded me of a Tom boy type child like George in the famous 5 books.

MirandaBlu · 29/10/2025 15:57

Robin as a diminutive/pet name for Robert is traditionally male, but Robin as a nature name is unisex and variable. I'd say in the UK the Robin version still skews mainly male but in the USA adult Robins are more often women. I wouldn't use Robyn for a boy (although it's not unheard-of) but I'd probably use Robin over Robyn for a girl (unless you want to avoid the bird connection).

tripleginandtonic · 29/10/2025 15:53

I prefer Robin like the bird. And it makes me think of the Chalet School.

DramaAlpaca · 29/10/2025 15:52

Robyn is sweet for a girl.

FannyCradocksDoughnut · 29/10/2025 15:50

Ellacott

Notagain75 · 29/10/2025 15:48

I'm afraid I don't like it. I'm not sure why but that's just my personal taste.

PevenseygirlQQ · 29/10/2025 15:47

Nice name! Only thing it reminds be of is Rihanna as its her real name x

Confusedmermaid1 · 29/10/2025 15:46

Anyway this wasn’t about my name suggestions, back to the OP 😂 sorry for the derail 😅

Endofthetunnel25 · 29/10/2025 15:46

It makes me think of an amazingly lovely lady I know called Robyn.
Also Robyn the singer who is v v cool.

Male Robins give me the ick a bit.
