Is it well liked?

I like it a lot for a girl. It will be the mn if I'm ever lucky enough to have another daughter one day. In honour of a fabulous relative

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 13/07/2026 08:30

I like it. A friend’s Gdd is a Robyn.

HarlequinHare · 12/01/2026 14:23

I don't know why it annoys me so mych when posters claim, like they are the oracle, that "it's Robin for a boy and Robyn for a girl" when that clearly is not the case, but it does. I really need to avoid any thread that mentions Robyn! (Robin Wright Penn, Robin Ellacott, Robin in Stranger Things, Robin the Rebel book published in 1960, actress Robin Curtis - all those off the top of my head as female Robins, as well as The Chalet School Robin but that wasn't her actual name I believe, just a nickname.)

I think of nature, warmth and a very strong personality. I love Robyn

Love it for a girl (which I assume you’re asked for with that spelling). I find it very wet for a boy though.

Agree.

Its rather sweet on a girl.

user1492757084 · 04/01/2026 22:51

I think of Robin Redbreast.

LozzaCh0ps · 04/01/2026 22:37

I really like it as a name. I was at school with a boy called Robin, and at college with a girl called Robyn (she went by Bob), and they were both really really nice!

Giraffehaver · 04/01/2026 22:35

Lovely

Another fear 🤣

My uncle is called Robin as his older brother proposed Batman and it was a compromise apparently.

BatsInHibernation · 04/01/2026 21:57

I love it. It annoys me a bit that the boy version is spelled like the wonderful little bird, but girls get a Y
I would probably use Robin for either.

This is my worry!!

I have 2 male Robins in my life. Neither has ever, ever been called Rob.

Do you mean for alternative name suggestions?

Yes

EmotionallyWeird · 16/11/2025 18:41

If I literally just heard it, I would probably hear it as Robin, and be expecting to see a boy.

ChachaIntheLongrun · 16/11/2025 18:40

Rubina or Rubi

I like the name but not the spelling.

But id say its the way to differentiate between male female

I personally like Robyn, would make me think of a winter baby born in snow.

AdoptDontShop2025 · 16/11/2025 18:06

Batman.

PhaseFour · 16/11/2025 18:02

I know one - she's cool, quirky and kind.
I lovd the "Robyn" spelling, too.
Not keen for a boy though.

Yes I'm worried it could be shortened to Rob if we did use the name. Or Robbie.

I think you can put your foot down as the parent until baby reaches a certain age where they can decide themselves. But my nanny always used to call me Rob and we just wouldn’t answer until she used my full name! No reason for anyone to call a baby girl Rob!

I am Robyn, when I was a bump I was “Bob” from blackadder. Occasionally when I was a child people would call me Rob but I’d just correct them and say I didn’t like it and no one tries to shorten my name as an adult. I quite like my name! Agree with other posters saying Robin for a boy is a bit “wet” though.

And as a girl, I’d hate if my name was spelt Robin not Robyn 😂

I have two Robyn’s in my life both very close to me so I like it. Both also female and spelt with the ryn. One we call Rob and another has a different nickname
