Please don't name your baby, Baby. Or Blue, December/Ember, or Red. Or, Birdie. Just. Please. Don't.

Pryceosh1987 · 12/11/2025 01:56

My mother told me she was going to call me baby, i am grateful she changed her mind. 😎😇

ViperHalliwell · 12/11/2025 01:29

FWIW, Cicely von Ziegesaar's The Carlyles series - a take-off on the success of Gossip Girl - features a set of Upper East Side teenage triplets called Avery (g), Owen (b), and Baby (g). Apparently Baby got her name because the parents were expecting twins (groan). I don't think I've ever met an adult male actually named Baby, but have met adult men with the given names Lovie and Duckie which seem kind of similar in vibe.

StrongLikeMamma · 11/11/2025 21:57

Please don’t call your baby, Baby.

deepseaargyllfish · 11/11/2025 17:18

Winter.

I used to know someone who called her baby a totally standard name, think Lily, along those popular lines. But the family from day dot called her Baby Lily, which she uses to this day and must be 15/16 now.

Actually think thats quite sweet.

That’s so cute 🥹

I love Poppy & Bonnie , girl in our town here called her baby girl Bambi last week , I’m on the fence , not sure do I like it or not , it’s like I do & I don’t 😂..
I really like remi & rain for a girl also ..
I think Samuel is such a nice name for a boy ..

I genuinely really like Bambi! I think there’s a celebrity who named their baby that and I liked it at the time then too.

I do have to agree here, especially for if somebody already did name their baby this (and I do know it’s rising in popularity!) read that last part.

Yes , that’s what I mean , that’s an awful thing to say , that last part …

I’ve met multiple adults with this name and they’ve had no issue. I’ve met people with MUCH more ridiculous names that I would consider bullying 😬

But op your mission shouldn't be to find a name that "isn't the MOST ridiculous" you've heard.

Baby isn't well thought-out. I mean honestly imagine asking to speak to the manager and out comes "Baby."

I'd give that one a miss - I think it's hormones talking,

That’s a shitty thing to say just cause you don’t like the name

Of your boys names I think Jasper, Arthur & August are lovely!

of your girls names I love Wren (which you could always use Birdie as a nn for!) I actually really like Sunday, I think it’s beautiful. Autumn is lovely too. I also don’t see why you couldn’t use December when people are named after months of the year! Ember is a sweet nn for that!

I’d like to add the following for boys:

Ernest
Stanley
Norman
Sidney
Walter
Francis
Frederick
Percival (Percy)
Peregrine (Perry)
Rowan
Blair
Briar
Silas
Atlas

and girls:

January
Sorrel
Noa
Fern
Marigold
Fawn
Flora
Rue
Melody
Etta
Marlow
Cosette
Otillie
Elowen
Carys

Oooo you get me! I love Percival, Rue and Otillie!

Sorry but I’m struggling to get past ‘Baby.’ You do know you’re naming a person who will eventually become an adult, not a doll, right? I’d also worry it’s a bad omen to give your baby a name that suggests s/he won’t make it to childhood.

Edited

That’s a shitty thing to say just cause you don’t like the name

Jassie and baby birdie are spectacularly awful

rest ok

if you want unusual I’d go for traycie Doris Peggy Ian Nigel

Jassie is a nickname for Jasper! Baby wouldn’t be called Jassie as their actual name :)

I hate the random adding Y to names so Traycie is a no sorry!

Use this test- Imagine if when your DC grows up and wants to be an MP or High Court Judge.

Nobody will take them seriously if they are called Baby. The Right Honourable Baby Smith MP

You’re not allowed to name a baby Baby in the UK - a simple google will quash your dream I’m afraid!

Your girl names aren’t unusual (other than Baby obvs!), just Marcella sounds like you’re birthing a 60 year old. Boys names - Samuel and Arthur, you can do better! You’ve definitely got it in you! 😆

Gutttinngggg! Ah well, onwards and upwards 🤣 Wren I love! December for a boy is interesting, I’m not sure on it 🤔

I’ll add it to the lists!
