DD would have been Stan, but short for Sebastian.

I really like it, you'd have to buy this book about Stanley, it's fab!

lucykate · 05/06/2008 17:10

love it

pipintroll · 05/06/2008 17:06

Those old fashioned names are all coming back now though! Stanley, Arthur, Alfie, George etc. Surely the geekiest names to give babies now are things like Trevor, Barry and Colin etc!

Umlellala · 05/06/2008 17:02

Love it. Would be one of our shortlisted except for reminding us of a kid we both taught (hard choosing names when you are a teacher ).

If he is a geek, then he will be a geek whatever his name is

Pinkchampagne · 05/06/2008 16:57

I love it!

izzybiz · 05/06/2008 16:54

I love it, but don't know if I could be brave enough to use it!

I'm expecting Ds2 in Sept, and think its one of those names that would be really cute on a tot and really cool on a teen.
What if he was a geek?!!

Yep I agree it's one of those names he'll have to be cool to carry off ...so he'll just have to be cool
I can picture my 2 year old dd calling him 'baby Stan' too - which makes me smile

really sorry - don't like it...

IllegallyBrunette · 05/06/2008 16:37

I read the thread title and thought 'Stanley, god what are they thinking'.

Then I thought again and decided actually I really really like it.

I want to have a baby to call Stanley now LOL.

GreenGodess · 05/06/2008 16:31

I don't think many people can carry off Stanley think it falls into the no-one is cool enough category.

hermykne · 05/06/2008 16:27

i thought you were asking about the cooker...sorry

its could be cool or then not.

stan the man was the ireland soceer captains nickname.

Collision · 05/06/2008 16:24

It is a cool name but not one I would choose.

If your ds is a cool dude and can carry it off then great! - but what if he is an Adrian Mole geek and has a name like Stanley?

It is DN's middle name. DB loves it and DSIL tolerates it!

mankymummy · 05/06/2008 16:22

My DS has Stanley as his middle name - but its not something i particularly chose, DS has my dads first name and his other grandad was Stanley.

mustsleep · 05/06/2008 16:21

love it but dh does not

pagwatch · 05/06/2008 16:20

I love it but I'm afraid I will always associated it with a man putting his pregnant girlfriend in the boot of his car and driving off a bridge.
Hope thats not a downer

belgo · 05/06/2008 16:20

I like Stan. I wouldn't choose Stanley, but I have objection to it.

artichokes · 05/06/2008 16:19

really, really love it

Love it

CantSleepWontSleep · 05/06/2008 15:49

I think there's one at a toddler group I go to. Always sounds odd when he's called.

lilibet · 05/06/2008 15:21

I have a nephew called Stanley, once I said at work that he had been born, so many other people knew babies called Stanley as well.

Strange how names come around

AggiePanther · 05/06/2008 15:11

Ooh well twice as many 'love it's as 'hate it's so far. Both DP and I love it and will probably use it - was just interested to see if we were alone
