The suggestions are to go with (already we have) The dds first and subsequent names.

Dora
Eliza
Henrietta
Mary
Iris
Anne

Boys on the list are Henry and Arthur but no ideas for girls.

I have a theory that one day dd's names will be in vogue and people will like them

Feel free to say they are hideous, I care not. (skin like a rhino) but I will hunt you down etc...

Enid?

Maude isn't trendy - it's way out in the 1000s in terms of popularity stats, a long way off being trendy.

I love Mildred from the pps' suggestions,Hilda has potential too.

Old female relatives in our family are Murray, Jamesina, Edie, Ivy, Isabella, Christina, Morven, Marsaili, Hannah and Elizabeth! I adore slightly quirky old fashioned names, I think they're so much prettier than more modern ones (not that there's anything wrong with modern names!)

I know you have your shortlist and I love them all. Just had to add Peternell from our family tree in the 1700s. Suppose it was a different form of Petronella.

BlueBumedFly · 06/06/2008 14:21

I love the fact you shortlisted Clementine.

We have a Clementine who is now 13 months. She was named after Clementine Churchill who was one of our strongest ladies in history. Behind every great man there is an even greater women!
