My friend suggested this as a potential for my baby girl but I'm not so keen. Partner is on the fence, no stronger feeling either way.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Treeleaf11 · 14/10/2025 20:52

If you don't like it why are you even considering your friends choice?

Titasaducksarse · 14/10/2025 20:52

A toddler with green bogey snot on her face and pasty skin

SloppySocks · 14/10/2025 20:50

Cheese

ImSoJulia · 14/10/2025 20:50

No.

tartyflette · 14/10/2025 20:49

Yeah, no.
(if this is even real….)

thecatfromneptune · 14/10/2025 20:49

It’s awful, OP, just don’t even think of saddling your child with that!

What about Maisie? Mabel? Darcey? Marnie?

I’m not keen on Macy or Macey, I have to say, as it sounds still far too “deep South child pageant competition” to me. And “Leigh” or “Lea” is very 1980s US pageant culture as well. Hyphenated first names are rarely a good idea as they tend to sound a bit downmarket…

There are so many pretty names out there. What kind of thing are you after? Classic or quirky? Unisex or girly? Fashionable or unusual? Perhaps we can suggest some others?

CrikeyMajikey · 14/10/2025 20:49

Please don’t.

Comeonbabylightmyfire · 14/10/2025 20:48

Macy is nice.

Comeonbabylightmyfire · 14/10/2025 20:48

Not my cup of tea.

What other names do you like?

AgnesX · 14/10/2025 20:48

Mental image of a Maccy D with a lump of Dairy Lea on.

Please, don't.

BananasFoster · 14/10/2025 20:47

Geneticsbunny · 14/10/2025 20:20

Have you considered balonz?

Why does this still make me laugh.

It’s horrible OP, really horrible. There are literally thousands of names with proper spellings to choose from.

Weedinosaurus · 14/10/2025 20:46

She sits in her pushchair with a Greggs sausage roll and juice in a bottle with YouTube on a tablet while her parents walk along vaping and shouting for big brother Kai-Jayden who is about to run out into the road.

To be fair, I think this perhaps reveals more about my judgemental attitude. But, a lifetime of teaching in early years settings in a certain area does show me that sometimes stereotypes exist for a reason.

IfHeWantedToHeWould · 14/10/2025 20:46

Has a sister called Darcy-Mai and a brother called Kaiden.

CeciliaMars · 14/10/2025 20:44

It’s awful.

DiscoBob · 14/10/2025 20:41

It sounds like some kind of obscure mechanical engineering product or device.

It's also not clear how to pronounce it. I mean if you are that taken with it then Macy- Lee would be better. Or lose the hyphen and have Lee as middle name?

PowerhouseOfTheCell · 14/10/2025 20:40

Trampoline in the front garden. Bonus points for a sofa/ car on bricks in the garden as well

MiddleAgedDread · 14/10/2025 20:40

Bigearringsbigsmile · 14/10/2025 20:17

It's not the chid I get an image of , it's the parents. It's really scally.

This! But the baby will be wearing a great big bow round their head, probably have earrings and a dummy stuffed in their gob at all times. Likely to be pushed around in a pram with pink fur trim round the hood and have lots of tops with “princess” on them.

Imicola · 14/10/2025 20:40

Macaroni cheese

Alittlefeedbackwouldbenice · 14/10/2025 20:39

A cross between McDonald's and a dairylee triangle.

Really not nice.
Frankly one of the worst names I've heard in a long time.

PolkaDotPorridge · 14/10/2025 20:37

NuffSaidSam · 14/10/2025 20:20

I'd imagine a child who is always dressed in pink probably Disney themed clothes, who's had her ears pierced as a baby. She's got a bow sellotaped to her head. Her parents didn't pursue higher education and may struggle with literacy.

Nailed it

CatAsstrophe · 14/10/2025 20:33

oviraptor21 · 14/10/2025 20:18

Rhymes with Maccy-D so would be associated with burgers in my world.

GMTA!

NewHat · 14/10/2025 20:32

Why would you want opinions on a name that some friend has suggested but that you are not keen on?

It’s your baby, not hers. Choose a name you are keen on.

Peclet · 14/10/2025 20:32

St George Cross flag hanging front your windows. Plastic tubs filled with plastic plants on the drive.

No.

Strop · 14/10/2025 20:30

Tragedeigh name

ImAPreMadonna · 14/10/2025 20:30

I too thought Maccy D

And then I pictured a girl dressed in an overly frilly pink polyester dress with matching knickers, pink socks and a pink bow on a headband. She’s drinking cola out of her (pink) bottle.
