My friend suggested this as a potential for my baby girl but I'm not so keen. Partner is on the fence, no stronger feeling either way.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Does it work with the title Dr in front of it? No, it is a silly non-name and any child lumbered with it will end up being judged for it their entire life. She may be a lovely, articulate, highly intelligent human being but that name conjures up a Vicky Pollard image

nopenotplaying · 28/11/2025 19:27

She wears a loopy cardigan and matching hat

Sparklybutold · 22/10/2025 21:28

Parents who are likely young and struggled at school?

TotallyUnapologeticOmnivore · 22/10/2025 21:08

She'll be the youngest crack dealer in her neighbourhood.

Tigerbalmshark · 22/10/2025 20:50

Aggro mother kicking off in the school office, I’m afraid.

BerkleyChoo · 22/10/2025 20:48

Blond hair in a top knot with pierced ears.

Themagicfarawaytreeismyfav · 22/10/2025 20:45

A baby with pierced ears and one of the hideous headbands with a huge bow on it. Sitting in a frilly pushchair drinking coke out of a bottle!

Eastie77Returns · 22/10/2025 20:42

NuffSaidSam · 14/10/2025 20:20

I'd imagine a child who is always dressed in pink probably Disney themed clothes, who's had her ears pierced as a baby. She's got a bow sellotaped to her head. Her parents didn't pursue higher education and may struggle with literacy.

Brilliant😂

mrssunshinexxx · 22/10/2025 20:36

Chav

fruitypancake · 22/10/2025 20:32

Chav - sorry

OSTMusTisNT · 22/10/2025 20:27

Chavvy and making a career of Universal Credit.

localnotail · 22/10/2025 20:19

Living in a trailer, sitting there with coca-cola in one hand a handful of fries in the other. Waiting to get her fake tan in time for her beauty pageant.

BasicBrumble · 14/10/2025 20:17

Is it even a name? Or a subbrand of dairy-lea?

Aldi version of dairylea 😂

YYYDlilah · 22/10/2025 19:31

How about Macii-Leigh. When she rebels she can change it to something rebellious like Marcella.

ChatNoire · 22/10/2025 17:48

Being a traditionalist I'd probably spell it Macey or Macy. Maci is what your child will turn it into when they rebel.

iamthehotstepper · 22/10/2025 17:43

Bonus points if it's being screeched across Home Bargains in a strong Welsh accent (I am Welsh)

Chazbots · 22/10/2025 17:40

Like MaccyD and tea all in one rhyming word...

NellieJean · 22/10/2025 17:37

Alabama trailer park.

MrsSkylerWhite · 22/10/2025 17:23

Immediately thought of macaroni cheese.

Kumquatzest · 22/10/2025 17:22

I think Macy on its own is fine. It's a bit too modern for my personal style but it's a serviceable name. The "Lea" bit throws me off because I'm not sure whether to pronounce it like Lee or Leah and other people will probably think the same.

I also think that non-traditional hyphenated names do have something of a negative image. I'm not talking about old school hyphenated names like Anne-Marie or Sarah-Jane, but the modern Insta-baby combinations.

Overall I would recommend either Macy or Leah but not hyphenated together.

Lordofmyflies · 22/10/2025 14:56

I thought ' do you want that as a meal?"

Greedybilly · 20/10/2025 17:13

It's awful. You might as well call her Maccy- Gregz.

ResusciAnnie · 20/10/2025 17:11

You’re not keen so that’s the end of it 🤷‍♀️ no need to think anything more about it, let alone make a thread.

To answer your question I imagine a 20 something, probably because of Maci from Teen Mom and Mayci from Mormon Wives. Maci on its own is ok but Lea just instantly adds a couple of decades on. Can’t imagine a current child called LEA/Leigh/Lee.

Needmorelego · 20/10/2025 17:05

Randomly I thought earlier "I wonder if the friend meant Marceline"
(Who is a character from Adventure Time)

Jugjug · 20/10/2025 09:50

sanityisamyth · 20/10/2025 09:43

As in Macey Leah? I read it first as Mackie Lee. It’s bloody awful.

Think so, personally I don’t mind double barrelled first names and think the hatred on Mumsnet is over the top. But at least god damn spell it right 😂

although three of these threads in the space of a week makes me wonder if we’re being trolled
