Thoughts?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I am not a fan of hyphenated names but I really like this. I think Beau is a lovely name for a girl. It looks and sounds girly and bows are quite girly. I think what you have flows nicely. Clearly im in the minority. (So many names used for both boys and girls so im not put off by the French use of the word)

@Movingonup313

why is girly a good thing? Just because the child is born a girl doesn’t mean they have to be girly.

YYYDlilah · 10/10/2025 10:10

The name Lila is actually really quite nice. It's not. It's not awful but it makes me think of Lilo, and it's too close to Lily, Isla, Lola and Mila.

I prefer it without the h on the end, Me too.

Missey85 · 10/10/2025 10:09

Christ the poor kid! 😂 That's just setting your kid up to be teased for life! Some people shouldn't be allowed to name kids 🙁

Because we have all been so rude op, and in case you were and still are - after this onslaught - fond of the idea of Beau-Lilah, how about the following tweaks. I can see there are some aspects of the name that are quite sweet.

  1. Just drop the hyphen. It isn't helping.
  2. The name Lila is actually really quite nice. I prefer it without the h on the end, because somehow adding it gives it a shouty, lascivious pirate vibe: Li-LAHRR. Lila is a bit softer somehow, but you could of course keep the h.
  3. The worst bit about Beau is the masculine adjective business. How about Bo for the same sound?
  4. Then, having dropped the hyphen, would you be happy to reverse the order and have Lila Bo Surname? I think that's not awful at all, but keeps the nicest aspects of Beau-Lilah.
  5. Lila Bea Surname would be even better? Lila Beatrice I really like - but i suspect now I'm going way too far off brief ... But Lila Bo Surname works I think?

Yes; pretty sure I'm thinking of a traditional Czech girls' name. I'd be very unlikely to personally use it (it's pretty old fashioned), but I'd be even more unlikely to use Beau-Lilah. If you like to be appalled by names that sound cabbagy in English, though, you might like the Polish version Bolesława (or Bolesław, for a boy) even more! 🥬

Boleslaw! That's a great lesson in the fact that names are the last things to successfully go global in this world!

My niece is called Beau-Belle. And she bloody suits it so much!!!!

Please tell me she's also a "proper cockney", that would be great

Cherrytree86 · 10/10/2025 08:55

What about Anna, OP? @w9828971

Did you mean 'it's not quite as hideous'?

Yeah lilah belle is awful too.

butterfly0404 · 09/10/2025 15:45

Boleslava?!

Are you sure you are not thinking of bowl of coleslaw?

Except it’s not just a French male name, it’s a French masculine word only used for boys. Belle is the female equivalent. It would be similar to a French person calling their daughter Prince because many names are unisex these days.

Some names just cannot be unisex.

The French need to lighten up ! The times they are a changing !! The world has enough Belles !!

reginaPhalange1990 · 09/10/2025 23:14

Some of you are so rude 😫🤣

Those women ‘suit’ those masculine names, simply because we don’t know them any other way.

very true …. My girl suits her masculine name as she won’t be known by any other and she wears it well !! As perhaps OP’s will … maybe minus the Lilah ❤️

It’s lovely, OP. It’s totally unique and shell be the only one in her class with that name and that’s really important.

Aye, ain't that the truth.

ilovepixie · 09/10/2025 22:39

Great name for a porn star. For a baby? No!
