Maisie, Holly, or Penelope

Finding it super tricky to think of a baby name! We already have a Poppy. I love Penelope but I worry Penny would be to close to Poppy…

Penelope by a New York mile! But full Penelope, not Penny, that's dreadful.

Freya is also gorgeous and was on our list 14 years ago!

SummerRain88 · 10/10/2025 06:29

If you love Penelope don't let the Penny and Poppy thing stop you, they are their own individual people and if your baby suits Penelope then that should be her name. And go for Nell or Nelly for short if she suits that.

mathanxiety · 10/10/2025 03:23

I think Poppy and Holly would be lovely.

I like Holly best but not sure about Poppy and Holly together.
Poppy and Maisie sounds nice
Don’t like Penelope much and if it too much with Poppy

Elephantangel1991 · 09/10/2025 22:54

Freya is my favourite, or Penelope with Nell as a shortening.

Yes I think Poppy and Penny would be too close for sisters, very twee but then I also think Poppy and Holly is a bit twee too.
So that leaves Maisie which is a perfectly nice name and has a similar cutsie vibe as Poppy

Or Poppy and Nelly

Norastroud · 09/10/2025 22:35

My favourite from your list is Maisie but I think Poppy & Freya sound great together!

I like Penelope but do know a few under the age of 5 & would it cause confusion for sisters to share the same initials?

Goodluck choosing x

Moreteaandchocolate · 09/10/2025 21:17

I know sisters called Poppy and Freya

Garamousalata · 09/10/2025 20:54

Holly ❤️

itsgettingweird · 09/10/2025 20:53

Maisie is my favourite with Poppy.

But I also love Freya with Poppy.

momtoboys · 09/10/2025 20:52

Maisie!

LolaBumble · 09/10/2025 20:36

A few suggestions for Freya and I do love this name as well!! Feels like such a massive decision, agonising over it much more than with my first x

Nancy is lovely

ElsaSnow · 09/10/2025 20:19

Penelope is on the rise. I’ve heard 3 different Penelope’s under 3 in the last 2 weeks - SE/Greater London. It is a nice name though.

I like the suggestions above of Poppy and Freya or Poppy and Nancy.

Yousuns · 09/10/2025 20:16

Penelope is the nicest by far imo. Just go with that and don't call her Penny? Can you shorten to Nell? Not sure it's a traditional shortening of Penelope but maybe. There's also Pen, but that's not so nice

VeryQuaintIrene · 09/10/2025 20:15

Penelope by a long way. Poppy and Penny aren't too cutesie in my view and I am a fusspot about such things.

Ambroserock · 09/10/2025 20:13

Penelope.

SpringingOn · 09/10/2025 20:11

I like Maisie best

AdaColeman · 09/10/2025 17:00

Penelope is lovely, or another name with a similar vibe is Philippa.

Cinaferna · 09/10/2025 16:51

I love the name Holly. All the Hollys I know are great.

I really dislike Penelope and Penny for short.

Maisie is quite cute. But Holly is the best.

BoleynMemories13 · 09/10/2025 16:49

Yes, Poppy and Penny is too twee.

I love Holly. Maisie is too cutesy for me.

manicpixieschemegirl · 09/10/2025 16:25

Penelope is my favourite but yes, Penny and Poppy is a bit much.

Holly is nice, if a little bland, but I also think it’s too similar to Poppy.

Maisie is as pedestrian a name as you can get, sorry!

Maisie always sounds like it is short for something to me?
