I work in a school and it's mainly still - Harry, Henry, Alfie, Jack, Oliver (Ollie) and James that I hear a lot. To be honest any name in the top 10, wouldn't be something I'd choose, simply because you can be sure there will be at least one other child in the class by the same name!!

It’s like the Americans who call their popular All-American sons things like Kevin and Trevor… used to be weird to me but now clearly they’re just ahead of the curve and all the new parents are naming their kids after their grandparents. David Mitchell’s kid is called Barbara and that Irish loose woman who is married to the footballer has a kid called Pamela.

But ones I’m hearing all the time, and so therefore names to avoid OP, are:

Freddie (absolutely everywhere has at least 2 Freddies)
Anything vowelly - Theo, Leo, Louie/s, Arlo, Ewan/Euan weirdly, Rory
The boring classics - Charlie, Harry, Tom, George, Henry
The too-obvious ‘cool’ names - Rowan, River, Axel. Never actually met a Bodhi.

my son has 4 Finns in his preschool room, a different one at football and two new babies at our church; Finn!

we also know multiple Freddie’s, a lot of Romans, Ruairidh & Reüben,

so many Freddie’s.

George. I know it’s a classic but I’m so sick of it lately, it’s like Harry was a few years ago, so overused.
Other names there seem to be too many of lately, Arlo, Albie, Arthur, Albert, Jude, Teddy, Rafferty, Roman, Kai, Kayden etc.

It’s time to bring back some old classics like Andrew, Stephen, Kevin, Ross, Timothy, Peter, Jonathan, Michael, Graham, Anthony, David, Eric, Jeremy etc.

I don't like the sound of George. It is classic, it is popular but to me it's very ugly and I am mystified by its popularity. Ja-oORj !

Archie, Teddy, Oscar, Noah, Arlo, Oliver, Leo, Roman and Lucas remain very popular around me and have been for a long long time now (15 years plus for all except maybe Teddy, Arlo and Roman). Names which are very popular around me, but not so much in the national stats, are David, Caleb, Jaxon, Jayden and Mason.

For under 5s, I'm starting to hear Jude, Albie, Rory, Frankie and Reuben quite a lot.
