I really love this name but I'm not Cornish so would it be weird to use it? The only other name I like is Fern but keep worrying it's too plain?

It will be misspelt and mispronounced, and she'll probably be Ellie.
I don't particularly like it, it just blends into all the El- names.

I feel like you've posted this before. You like it. Just use it and who gives a damn what other people think. (Most especially strangers!)

Errr isn't what this forum is for?

Your feeling is off because this is the first time I've posted here

For me Fern is far more interesting than Elowen. Almost one in ten of the girls names in the top hundred in England and Wales start with El- so she’d just blend in with Elodie and Eliza and Eloise and Ella. Fern sounds much fresher and distinct. I don’t think you need to Cornish to use Elowen. Though I’m not Cornish myself, I wouldn’t find it odd.

I wouldn't know it's a Cornish name, just think it's a nice name. Go for it.

Would you think it's weird a person with no Cornish connection using it

Both seem fine to me
