Baby’s here, no name :(

DS is here and we still don’t have a name for him. I thought I loved the name Kit, I do, but I’m worried about increasing popularity, it’s up to 157 in the ONS and with a character on coronation street, I can see it increasing again. Our other child has a one syllable unisex name with an American feel, so struggling to find a name that blends well with it and both feel on an even keel. That name is in the 1000’s in terms of popularity.

I would be grateful for some suggestions, i appreciate its hard without knowing the exact name to pair with. I’d like another one syllable name. Thanks in advance x

I love the name Kit. does it matter if the name becomes popular? your son is going to grow up to be his own person. when people who know and love him hear his name they will think of him and everything that makes him unique ☺️

Kit is a really good choice

Congratulations! I love Kit

I love Kit. If you love it, use it. It's popular because it's a great name. It's important to give your DS a name you love, imo, because you're going to be saying it an awful lot.

If you love the name Kit then use that.

I could understand your hesitation if it was number 1, but 157th means that only 328 babies were called kit in 2024. So while it's a well known name, it's very unlikely there will be several in a class at school.

Reid to me is a very American feeling one syllable name. Blake, Clark and Heath also come to mind.

Congratulations on your new son!
