Jasper, though I like Caspar even better.

FluffMagnet · 03/09/2025 19:26

Jasper, wonderful name!

timoteigirl · 03/09/2025 19:25

Like both but Jasper is more longer term name whereas Elias could be a shorter term trend, in case that makes a difference.

QuietLifeNoDrama · 03/09/2025 18:07

I like Jasper but I love Elias

keffie12 · 03/09/2025 18:03

Elias

Like both and know a baby both

The Elias is pronounced el-EYE-us

Jasper is a wasp here so I’ll pick the other one.

Came on to say the same! When I first moved here I was totally bemused when a girl ran screaming from the classroom shouting ‘ jasper!’

Hi from the South Wes Vinglun.

Bluelilacbella · 03/09/2025 07:58

I don’t like either.

Elias shortens to El or Ellie which is so popular for girls

Jasper sounds so soft and feminine imo. Also Jas or Jazz is quite feminine

shoopshoopdedoo · 02/09/2025 11:57

Elias.
Jasper is my least favourite boy name, I think.

TaupeMember · 02/09/2025 09:04

Really like Jasper

Jasper is too close to Jester

Randomly fa-fetched. Never have I made that connection. Lester - ok.

Observed · 02/09/2025 08:03

Jasper 😍

Mitherations · 02/09/2025 07:56

I don't think either of them are strong names. Elias sounds wheedling and nasally with a damp handshake, like he'd borrow money off you and not pay it back, and Jasper is too close to Jester, not very bright, and reminds me of a daft black Labrador.

Any others?

Sparklesandspandexgallore · 02/09/2025 07:43

Depends on your surname.
If both flow then Elias for me.

DuchessOfNarcissex · 02/09/2025 07:42

I'm not keen on either of them. Elias sounds whiny and will get shortened to Eli, Lias or Elly, none of which I like. The El-ee-as pronunciation is ok.
Jasper's the better of the two.

GreenAndWhiteStripes · 02/09/2025 06:53

I think Jasper is very nice as a dog/pony name but a bit wet for an actual person (sorry but you did ask for honest opinions). On the other hand I love Elias nn Eli. I get PP's point about it being mispronounced as Ellie but this is easily corrected I would have thought.

It is easily corrected but they have multiple teachers reading the register daily in secondary school (often new or supply teachers) it only took a few of them to say Ellie and look round for a girl for him to get called Ellie in banter by the other kids. I love the name but unfortunately this put me off.

Obsesetits · 01/09/2025 23:17

I have a Jasper so I’m slightly biased.. he end up being called ‘Jassie’ most of the time 🤣

spiderlight · 01/09/2025 23:16

Elias, definitely.

Ehupflower · 01/09/2025 23:08

Jasper is my favourite. Elias becomes Eli, which round us becomes Ellie in secondary school…(after a few mispronunciations when reading out the register)
