Ooh - cross posted with lots of posts. Tabitha is divine .

CantSleepWontSleep · 30/05/2008 21:30

Right dizzy, here are my thoughts.

Clementine is sort of nice, but I spent months playing 'oh my darling, oh my darling, oh my darling clementine' on recorder when I was a child, and the memory sticks with me!

I still think that Pip works really well, or Penny, or how about Felicity (Fliss, Flic) or Veronica (Ronnie) or Verity?

dizzydixies · 30/05/2008 21:30

is Isabella and Annabel not too samey?

when pregnant with dd1 we had either Ella or Arywn for a girl and Corin or Caleb for a boy

she was handed to dh after the birth and he just looked at her and said 'she's an Ella'

that was that

with dd2 we had Roan, Reuben (nn Rudy) and Jude and for girls I wanted Dylan or Lexie, dh wanted Phoebe or Abbie and Reese and Rudy were in there for a while too

Lexie was decided on as my mother announced she didn't like it and that was that
thanks mum

I have never had a shortlist DD1 has our girls name and was always going to be it no discussion necessary.

DD2 we were between Caitlin and Talia couldn't decide up until the day she was born, after MWs were born we both got into bed with her and said Talia at the same time. Suits her to a T there is no way she is a Caitlin.

DD3 only name DP and I can agree on and it's completely stuck now.

I'm amazed as usually I say NO to every name.

dizzydixies · 30/05/2008 21:12

foggy I don't know why but am the same, I want at least a shortlist of boys and girls before we go in as I found it very tiresome choosing dd2's name and it should be an exciting fun tihng, not a daunting task

dizzydixies · 30/05/2008 21:11

5!?!?!? well done you Pollyanna - how on earth do you have time to MN never mind choose names?!

Phoebe was what dh desperately wanted for dd2 but I knew a girl from work who lived about 5 doors down who had a Phoebe the year previous to dd2 arriving so that was that for me, tis pretty though and has a lovely meaning

do you mind me asking, when you say the same do you mean full version or shortened?

Pollyanna · 30/05/2008 21:08

dizzydixies, your 2 dds have the same names as 2 of mine.
The names I had (since we share the same taste) on the shortlist for dc5 (who turned out to be a boy) were:

Beatrice (Bea)
Catherine (kitty)
clementine
hermione
Miranda (mimi)
Cecilia
Jessamy

my third dd is called Phoebe

FoghornLeghorn · 30/05/2008 21:07

Oh where where ??? I didn't see ..... not been around much lately !
I miss being Springchicken .....

sweetkitty · 30/05/2008 21:06

foghorn - just realised I called you springchicken in another thread (or was it this one) I said you and dizzy are having boys

FoghornLeghorn · 30/05/2008 21:06

I agree with VS - we have DD1 ending in 'ie' and DD2 ending is 'ey' so we were thinking of Jess for a girl or Isla ..... something short and simple

FoghornLeghorn · 30/05/2008 21:05

Awww Dizzy .... you are having just as much fun with names as we are

I'm not going to think about it now until I'm in labour ....

dizzydixies · 30/05/2008 20:56

ahhhh, the lure of a names thread

I agree VS and if not one syllable then at least a name that doesn't sound similar AT ALL

OP posts:
VictorianSqualor · 30/05/2008 20:53

I was just sat talking to DP and had to come post

I think you need a one syllable nn for the baby if it's a girl, Like Joanna -Jo, Evelyn -Eve, Clementine - Clem etc to make it go well with Ella and Lexie

Ellie, Lexie and Clem sounds cute, or Ella, Lexie and Eve, Ella, Lexie and Jazz (Jasmine/a) etc

sweetkitty · 30/05/2008 20:51

Caleb, Jude, Reuben they are all nice though (am not just saying that though)
