bluenosesaint · 31/05/2008 22:55

Not keen on Ottilie dizzy. My first thought when i read it was 'Attila the Hun'

VictorianSqualor · 31/05/2008 22:46

Constance Jane Dn
I'm loving Jane atm.
Call her nancy for nn.

kittywise · 31/05/2008 22:40

Constance is great

VictorianSqualor · 31/05/2008 22:38

Constance?
What a beautiful name.
Ella, Lexie and Connie, OR nancy!!(constANCE)

MamaTama · 31/05/2008 21:56

Not keen on Ottilie even though a friend has a beautiful DD wth that name.
Aurelie is lovely though, sort of similar but with a certain 'je ne sais quoi' about it!
Ditto Odette, I really like that name too.
By the way, re surname conundrum: is it the first name of a little boyman who battled Goliath by any chance (if so it's my Dad's name...)

VictorianSqualor · 31/05/2008 17:49

I know an Odette too, we never shortened her name really, her sister sometimes calls her 'Dette but that's as close to an nn as she got.

Mind you I'm 27 and only got a nn about three years ago

scorpio1 · 31/05/2008 17:47

you could name a dd after me!

sweetkitty · 31/05/2008 17:44

I know an Odette very pretty name

don't know how it would get shortened though

VictorianSqualor · 31/05/2008 17:41

I don't like ottilie
Not at all.

GreenElizabeth · 31/05/2008 17:36

Never mind your husband , your internet buddies don't seem to like Clementine, so that just leaves Cordelia!

What were his comments on Beatrice???

scorpio1 · 31/05/2008 17:20

Otto is great

'o' names are very trendy. my rl mate has an Arlo.

sweetkitty · 31/05/2008 16:00

My DP rubbished every name I chose as well

I like Charlotte (Lottie) but same L as DD2

I think it should be Clementine Clemmie

do your really need a shortened name as you are limiting yourself theres some lovely one syllable names out there (none of which I could ever use of course)

Ottilie Bottilie?

I can't believe it's not butter, etc.

dizzydixies · 31/05/2008 13:05

does anyone like Ottilie?

OP posts:
dizzydixies · 31/05/2008 12:11

our surname begins with a D, two syllable and is very much a first name

MamaTama · 31/05/2008 12:08

I stand by my Serena Celeste suggestion: imagine if she did turn out to be heavenly, clam & peaceful like her name what a breeze it would be parenting her?!?
Didn't DH like Serena?
What's your surname if you don't mind me asking?
Be good to know to see how different names ring together...
At least it sounds like you've narrowed it down a bit anyway!

dizzydixies · 31/05/2008 11:47

Tabitha and Georgina are off - dh doesn't like them

he DOES however like Cordelia and Celeste

Evangeline got a maybe and he wasn't fussed on the rest

do you see what am up against here?!? lol

LOL - i know what you mean. I have 3 girls and its was hell naming dd3!! Dh named her and i still don't like it, i mean, its a nice name, its just not her name

I'm sure that made LOADS of sense, lol

I like Cordelia, Beatrice and Tabitha best from your list, although all are lovely

I agree with your long/short theory btw. Seems right somehow.
