Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
dizzydixies · 30/05/2008 17:42

I quite like Pip am sure Piper was on the list somewhere with one of the girls

what about Penelope nn Nell or do you think thats asking for trouble with Ella and Nell as siblings?

OP posts:
CantSleepWontSleep · 30/05/2008 17:41

I think you need a Philippa dizzy. Shortened to Pippa or just Pip, or Phil if you prefer.

dizzydixies · 30/05/2008 17:32

Abigail was what dh wanted for dd2 but it now has same initial as Alexandra and same 'ee' ending as Lexie AARRGGHHHHHHHH

we already have an Amelia and Olivia and Elizabeth known as beth in the family I told you we have a ridicliously large family - on both sides - we should start falling out with people

Liberty am not too fond of, love Libby but witch at work has dd by this name and I couldn't forgive myself for using it

nice try though all lovely names just can't be used for one stupid reason or another

Millie

sweetkitty · 30/05/2008 17:28

dizzy your list of criteria is as bad as mine

of course you have to have
Abigail - Abbie
Elizabeth - Beth or Libby
or
Liberty - Libby (I liked this DP hated)
Olivia - Livvy
Amelia - Millie

thats my top 5 names there you go take your pick

dizzydixies · 30/05/2008 17:23

can you see why I haven't technically started a thread for help as most people would look at it and go

sod that for a lark

I prefer helping others with their names as am a bit of a name obsessive

OP posts:
scorpio1 · 30/05/2008 17:23

Beatrix - Bea, Trixie

dizzydixies · 30/05/2008 17:22

ok greeny you're on!

am a complicated but simple soul really

we have 2 dds so are ok for boys names as still like our original ones, having never gotten to use them!

Corin
Caleb
Roan
Cassius or Cassian
Jude
Reuben

am sure there is another one but I can't think of it right this minute

our girls are

dd1 - Isabella known only as Ella
dd2 - Alexandra known only as Lexie

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
if it is another dd, am I stuck? do I have to follow suit and have another long name shortened? e.g

Charlotte - nn Coco
Beatrice - nn Bea
Cecelia - nn Cece
Olivia - nn Liv

etc

am not overly keen on names with same initials (comes from nosey sleekit mother who opened my post)

we have a surname which is very much a first name so it can't really be a name that is considered more of a surname iyswim as it would be the wrong way round all the time

not sure if I want names that sound too similar - I want my kids to KNOW which one of them is being shouted at

e.g I really like Sylvie but think its too similar in sound to Lexie

both girls have 2 middle names which are family names - will deal with middle names later - am not too stressed about it as we both have HUGE families

how's that for a challange for you then?!?

you'll be regretting you asked now

What are your criteria Dizzydixies?

I like a challenge. Tell me your name rules.

hunkermunker · 30/05/2008 14:20

S'ok, my love.

I am feeling cranky (banged my head earlier and it really, really hurts) and I came onto MN to do a scattergun argh at people. You got off lightly, trust me [goes out for the afternoon]

CantSleepWontSleep · 30/05/2008 14:18

Did you really, fab .
But we are still considering using ds2's name hunker, so it's not like my criticism was a big one . It's dh's middle name too btw!

sweetkitty · 30/05/2008 14:17

Right I am with you now hunker

I'm quite glad this one is another girl as DP and I would have argued until the 12th of never about Elliot/Logan and ended up calling him Jack!

hunkermunker · 30/05/2008 14:16

Just after I'd recommended CSWS's DD's name on another thread, ironically.

dizzydixies · 30/05/2008 14:15

all knowing all seeing omnipresent hunker strikes again

OP posts:
CantSleepWontSleep · 30/05/2008 14:15

I slightly criticised a name that is special to her .

hunkermunker · 30/05/2008 14:14

What's DS2 called, SK?

sweetkitty · 30/05/2008 14:14

I think they both run pretty well but of course my preference is for Elliot, there were two Dominics on the 2006 thread too.

Out of interest why wasn't hunker to see it???

hunkermunker · 30/05/2008 14:13

I see everything, CSWS

CantSleepWontSleep · 30/05/2008 14:11

Was hoping you wouldn't see that hunker!

Do you really think ED runs as well as DE sk, or is it just because you prefer E?
I quite like the fact that his initials could be DES, so we could call him that for a nickname .

sweetkitty · 30/05/2008 14:09

I'm getting another male cat and calling him Elliot!

dizzydixies · 30/05/2008 14:07

I LOVE hugo but dh won't let me as there is a wee northern irish country and western singer that his dad tortured him with in the car for hours on end when he lived at home called Hugo Our Surname [boooooooooo]

OP posts:
hunkermunker · 30/05/2008 14:07

CSWS...ahem...

CantSleepWontSleep · 30/05/2008 14:06

If it would entertain you dizzy! I asked sk because we were both planning elliots in 2006, but then both had girls.
The sort of names we like are Dominic, Lawrence, Toby, Hugo, Barnaby, Julian, but none of them sound quite right with Elliot first and our single syllable surname. The best combination seems to be Elliot James, but James is a bit too dull when there are so many other names that I like.

sweetkitty · 30/05/2008 14:03

CSWS - congrats on having a boy, our Elliot would have been Elliot David (family name) Dominic Elliot is nice although I like Elliot Dominic better but thats just me

dizzydixies · 30/05/2008 13:58

can'tsleep I wuold appear to have a few books on the very subject of names if you want me to have a look
