choklit - if you read down the thread you'll see that we are def using Elliot, but we can't find a middle name that works with it which we both love, so it may be relegated to middle name status.

OP posts:
CantSleepWontSleep · 07/06/2008 21:48

Dh apparently hates it.

dizzydixies · 07/06/2008 21:22

I like it too and much prefer Elliot to have proper place as a first name

OP posts:
ButterflyMcQueen · 07/06/2008 10:33

well i am guessing - it is sweet!

CantSleepWontSleep · 07/06/2008 10:27

Aha! Is that what his Fitz was short for? Cracker was where I first heard of Fitz.

ButterflyMcQueen · 07/06/2008 10:23

robbie coltrane!

CantSleepWontSleep · 07/06/2008 10:19

Ooh no - didn't see JR - who was on and how did name come up? I liked it before dd was born.

ButterflyMcQueen · 07/06/2008 10:16

loveley but did fitzpatrick coe into te equation after jonathan ross last night because it crossed my mind

CantSleepWontSleep · 07/06/2008 08:48

Ok you guys - I trust your opinions enough to dare ask what you think of Elliot Fitzpatrick Sxxxx.

dizzydixies · 06/06/2008 22:36

OP posts:
ButterflyMcQueen · 06/06/2008 22:01

Dominic is lovely but try not to use Dom
we use it for a middle name

CantSleepWontSleep · 06/06/2008 13:59

Oh dear, am I a lost cause?! Should I just stick with Dominic Elliot?

I did answer rufus VS - I said 'dog'.

dizzydixies · 06/06/2008 10:17

I never imagined I meet someone with more issues for picking a name than me but hands down CSWS - you win

OP posts:
VictorianSqualor · 06/06/2008 10:01

You haven't answered Rufus CSWS.
(Loves it, but then I have an Alexander (Alex/Lex/Xander) so your DH obviously has really bad taste)

CantSleepWontSleep · 06/06/2008 08:41

Otis - nope - dh says it's a dog in Garfield
Otto - I like this but dh says it's German. 'O' sound probably too prominent.
Eugene - nn Gene - nah - geeksville for me.
Lennon - surname, dh hates John
Lennox - we're not black or boxers
Odin - that's just stupid (dh's words)
Luke - we like, but not enough. dh had falling out with good long term friend of that name, and it puts him off it.
Matthew - too ordinary
Dean - nah - just doesn't do it for us
Elvis - dh works in Memphis quite a bit at the moment, so reckons you're joking!

So on our list of names we both like we have

Elliot
Dominic
Lawrence/Laurence
Toby but the 'O' sound rules it out
Barnaby
Dylan (but too popular now I've rechecked the list)
Duncan
Jacob (but too popular and one in family already)
Gabriel, although it doesn't feel quite right for us
Christian (but don't want shortened and friend now has)
Julian
Isaiah (but dh will never spell it right)
Jeremy (but I like more than dh, and I actually slightly prefer Jeremiah)
Benedict (but don't want inevitable shortening)
Abraham
Reuben

But the last 2 plus Isaiah have the Jewish problem, which dh will take some work to get over.

Patrick was a strong contender last time as a middle name with Elliot first, but dh has gone off it since.

We would say nothing from the current top 100 names, but both Dominic and Elliot are just within that, so I guess we'd have to say nothing from top 50 as an absolute cut off.

We've been through the top 1000 names from last year, and these are the only ones we agree on. There are plenty of others that I like (Zachary Elliot being the combination I would be very happy to use), but dh is hard to please.

ButterflyMcQueen · 05/06/2008 23:19

fwiw ds is 16 in a minute and has a friend lawrence who NEVER gets a pet name

everyone calls him lawrence which i think is great

he is extremely tall and handsome

CantSleepWontSleep · 05/06/2008 23:18

I copied and pasted DD's 'jonathon', so ner ner ner ner ner to you hunker .

Lawrence is on our list BM, but we realised last week that I spell it that way, and dh spells it Laurence.

CantSleepWontSleep · 05/06/2008 23:14

Christopher - Kit - blimey - dh says Christopher ok but not keen on Kit. I'm the other way round! We both like Christian, but don't want it shortened to Chris, and friend just used.
Ronan/Roman/Roan - dh making a zero sign at me
Fergus - I like, dh scores 4 out of 10
Phillip - nn pip (for baby obviously) - dd is Philippa, so a definite no!
Corin/Coran - 1 out of 10
Dashiell - nn Dash (tis fab!!grin) - zero
Max - one of best friends has one
Conrad - 5 or 6 out of 10 from dh. It was on our list if dd had been a boy, so he's fickle!
Daniel - like but too popular
Connor - Irish 2/10
Bailey - surname minus 27 from dh
Aaron - 6/10 from dh. Less from me, although used to really like.
Albert - nn bertie - Bert too much my grandad
Edward - nn Ted/Teddy/Ned - too ordinary
Theodore - Theo - nothing beginning with T, as both mine and dh's names have this initial already.
Leo - friend has one
Leon - friend has one
Kerr - is this actually a name? Dh scores it minus 9,450
Finlay - nn Fin - 1/10
Fraser - minus 1 from dh. I like it.
Sean - zero
Tristan - that's just gay (dh's words)
Niall - Dh can't spell (is a bit dyslexic)
Tom - friend has, too ordinary, not good with surname
Guy - 3/10
Giles - 1/10
Alex - friend has. 1/10 from dh
Zander/Xander - dh is asking me to clarify his maximum minus score so far, so that he can give this less!
Reuben - is on our list, but dh says too Jewish as our surname is apparently Jewish
Mitch - I put on a list once, dh laughed it off.

Am off to bed now too - this is my latest night in ages!

dizzydixies · 05/06/2008 23:12
