Which names are popular in your area?

I’d be interested to see which names you are repeatedly hearing and then whether your area is considered affluent or not. Just for a bit of lighthearted fun as I find it interesting how names can vary so much depending on the area. I have recently moved from a not very affluent area to an affluent area and these were the names I came across the most plus some that were popular in both!

Affluent:
Hugo
Otto
Lenny
Edward

Felicity
Maya
Ruby
Olive
Marley

Less affluent:
Alfie
Dylan
Josh
Louis
Jensen

Autumn
Jessica
Chloe
Willow
Matilda

Both:
Albie/ Albert
James
Jack
Henry
Max
Sebastian

Ottilie
Tilly
Poppy
Violet
Lucy

YES child 2s name made the Mumsnet affluent list, wish I knew about Mumsnet when I had child 1 but I was only 16 then (exposing myself as a harlot)

I'll be very upset if I ever see a dcs name on the "non affluent" list 🤣

I live in a mixed town and there seems to be a multitude of baby girls being born with names that begin with a or I.
And endless boys called Alfie Archie and Albie

rosegarden95 · 27/08/2025 16:00

Sofia is a very popular name in my area

Dontcallmescarface · 26/08/2025 04:47

There seems to be some sort of by-law in the village where I live that states that all families must name 1 of their children either
Jack
George
Henry
Cody
or
Emily
Olivia
Izzy
Taylor
It seems almost every family has at least 1 DC whose name is on that list.

CinnamonBuns67 · 25/08/2025 11:40

Non affluent

Boys: Teddy
Carter
Alfie
Kaiden/Cayden
Jayden

Girls: Bella
Isla
Amelia

Double barrelled first names seem popular in my area like "Ivy-Rose, Isla-Rae" too.

My DS is at school in one of the most affluent areas of the city where we live, and has children called Louis, Dylan, Alfie and Tilly (short for Matilda) in his class.

Also very popular - Freddie, Oscar, James/Jamie, Edith/Edie.

I don’t see any of the names mentioned being associated with affluent areas as such they are just very popular names right now and I’ve heard them used across classes.

Mixed area here.

I find the more affluent areas are over-run with Henry and Oliver; Isabella and Olivia

The less affluent areas have a much more varied range of names (which I like, personally).

MinPinSins · 19/08/2025 12:58

Very middle England, middle of the road
Rory and William are popular for boys, and then Eva, Ava and Charlotte for girls
