DD goes by Ettie as a nickname, but it’s short for Greta. I also really like it as a shortening for Juliet or maybe Harriet. We’ve had lots of compliments on it and judging by the latest ONS stats it’s getting more popular, but I find it a bit insubstantial to use as a full name (it literally means ‘little’ or ‘diminutive’).

Of the others I quite like Elodie or Audrey. Suki is one I have earmarked for a future pet! Noelle is cute as a middle name for a Christmas baby but I wouldn’t use it as a first name personally. And Vivienne is a bit frilly for my taste (although I’d probably admire it on someone else’s DD). Gia nice in theory but I think it’s a bit odd to say in an English accent - the G is pronounced quite differently from Italian.

Love Elodie
really dislike Suki
Audrey is too ‘old lady’ for my taste.
Like Ettie but as a shortening of something like Juliette rather than a full name.
others are ok

Pretty names!

My favourites are Vivienne and Audrey.

Mine too!

AdayinDecember · 14/08/2025 23:06

Audrey

My favourite is Ettie but I wouldn't use it as a name in its own right and I'm not keen on Henrietta. I think I'd go for Juliette but then I like that even better than Ettie so idk!

Vivienne is my second favourite and would probably be my first choice as it doesn't need a full name, it already is one.

I like Elodie and Noelle (although I would possibly think Christmas baby for Noelle, even though I know it's spelled differently)

Not overly keen on Gia or Audrey but they're ok. I love Georgina which Gia could be short for at a push.

I really don't like Suki but I do like Susannah.

ooooohlala · 14/08/2025 22:58

I’d do Suzannah with Suki as a nn. I really like both the long and short versions.

ninjahamster · 14/08/2025 22:54

Elodie

LizzieBet14 · 14/08/2025 22:17

Gia or Ettie ❤️ (love it as a shortened version of Harriet)

fatfrumpyandfedup · 14/08/2025 22:16

I like Ettienne. Can shorten to Ettie

Mumofgirls2017 · 14/08/2025 22:15

Elodie nn Edie 🥰

Moreteaandchocolate · 14/08/2025 22:06

Elodie, Audrey, Vivienne and Ettie are nice. Not keen on the others.

I also like pp’s idea of Ettie short for another name - Harriet / Violet etc…

If I try to imagine which name would suit me, my teenage daughter and my baby cousin best then Elodie or Vivienne work best as they have some nn options that make them flexible for different ages / personalities etc

NuffSaidSam · 14/08/2025 21:29

I like Elodie best.

I also like Vivienne and Ettie (but not as a given name, maybe a nn for Harriet/Henrietta).
