I like Grace but not the rest. India is the best of the selection- Layla the worst.

LaylaandSethsmum · 29/05/2008 22:21

Layla Grace...for obvious reasons

seeker · 29/05/2008 22:18

Leah is a very traditional name - and it's pronounces lee-ah. I think you need to spell it differently if you want lay-ah. Leia, as is Star Wars? Of course, everyone will think Leia, as in Star Wars, but if you don't mind that.....!

HonoriaGlossop · 29/05/2008 21:38

i think India Grace is the stand-out name from that selection and if as you say it's close to your hearts then that's a good reason to use the name. I think the shortening to Indy or Indie is just adorable for a little girl and can imagine a seriously cool teenager with the name Indy

Go for India! It's definitely the classiest of the names on your list

serin · 29/05/2008 21:11

India or Layla IMO, but like Lola Grace even better.

sweetkitty · 29/05/2008 21:00

India Grace

DD3's middle name will probably be Grace as well (DP still not 100%)

Amapoleon · 29/05/2008 20:58

Everything except Layla, my fave is India.

Hulababy · 29/05/2008 20:56

From the Op lust my favurite is India Grace.

cheesesarnie · 29/05/2008 20:55

I meant Iris not Irish. Fingers got carried away.

GreenElizabeth · 29/05/2008 20:34

I love Edith. I think it is softer than Iris. Irish coool in a slap me beotch kind of way, but Edith is pretty too. Pretty lasts longer than cool.

CescaD · 29/05/2008 20:16

Aaah - Esme - that is on my list for a middle name second time round.

You are so right about Mabel. How come everyone is foraging their forbears names and Edith, Florence and Iris are all in vogue and Mabel isn't?

Mabel Grace anyone?

GreenElizabeth · 29/05/2008 20:07

You're right. It was a bit wanky wasn't it? I don't even allow an accent on Esme.

Mabel is gorgeous! There should be millions of them running around and there aren't. So puzzling.

chonky · 29/05/2008 20:05

Leah or India

cornsilk · 29/05/2008 20:04

Like Scarlett Grace

CescaD · 29/05/2008 20:03

Oooh - GreenElizabeth - don't start putting accents on names. Not in this country. Endless headaches with people putting them the wrong way round or not being able to find them on keyboards. Don't you remember all the angry mothers of girls called Zoe when the umlaut was missed off the e yet again?

And remember the last celebrity to accent their daughter's name was Jordan. You just don't want to go there.

Rant over - I normally love GreenElizabeth's name suggestions (I've long been a secret Mabel fan - there I am out of the closet now!)

oooggs · 29/05/2008 19:56

I have an Erin Grace

and of the names you have suggested I like Layla Grace

GreenElizabeth · 29/05/2008 19:53

What about Skye? It has the 'of the moment' feel that Sienna has but it also has the strength (but not the harshness) of Scarlett.

Lydia could be Lia for short. That would be nice Lydia Grace (Lia)

If you like the pronounciation Leya, I think you should put an accent over the e. Léah. That looks a little scruffier than just Leah, but it makes it obvious that yo umean it to be Leyah.

WinkyWinkola · 29/05/2008 19:51

Not keen on any.

Lola Grace?

GreenElizabeth · 29/05/2008 19:49

Layla Grace - nice but Leila is prettier and is the Prussian spelling. I love Leila and I can't bear Layla. An over reaction perhaps but true.
India Grace - Not crazy about India. It's sort of a pretentious name used in not very glamorous circles (now) obviously an India same age as India Hicks is very privileged.
Sienna Grace - I quite like it, but I just see Sienna miller Grace. I really like Vienna Grace. It sounds less predictable than Sienna Grace.
Scarlett Grace - OK, Scarlett is a little harsh sounding but it's now an awful name to have.
Leah Grace - this is lovely, pretty, classic, not pretentious, it's a girly name but still a strong name iykwim.

CescaD · 29/05/2008 19:39

They are all lovely but I would be slightly wary of using Sienna or Scarlett simply because there are currently well known actresses with those names which may mean there end up being several in her class at school.

On the pronunciation note - if you want to pronounce it like the Princess in star wars why not spell it that way. Then there won't be any confusion.

kayzisexpecting · 29/05/2008 19:30

The princess from Star Wars is spelt Leia, so maybe if you spell it like that it might help.

I quite like Layla, its on my list for this DC. But DH keeps singing 'Layla' everytime I mention it.

choufleur · 29/05/2008 19:29

scarlett is my favourite
