Baby girl names… peach?

PollyD123 · 13/08/2025 15:10

I’m due in a few weeks with a baby girl and struggling to find a name. I’ve swapped it constantly throughout the months and just don’t like anything. I was recently set on Lena but have realised how common it actually is, which puts me off a little bit. I recently heard the name peach and absolutely love it but after reading a lot of forums people seem to think it’s silly? I know it doesn’t matter what other people think but I don’t know if it’s too out there?! Thoughts?

I just asked my teenage daughter what she thought of peach for a name and she replied “why would anyone want to call their kid butt? That’s savage”

Love this

Yes exactly, no one would remember the 6 Olivia’s who all go for the same job interview.

Lol what rubbish. I have the ‘Olivia’ name of my generation and have never been unemployed lol. Have been offered the job on the spot or same day several times.

Lena isn’t that popular in the uk, i can’t immediately find it on the top 100 lists, it’s Luna I can find. Lena is nice.

There are many happy mediums between Oliva and Peach.

Mirabel is the name of the main character from the disney film Encanto which is hugely popular so kids might associate her with that

Better than being associated with a bum!

Soupsipper · 14/08/2025 04:14

I thought of the bum connotations. But I think if I was introduced to a toddler called peach I might think it was cute!

user1492757084 · 14/08/2025 02:20

II prefer Peaches.

Others ..
Plum
Blossom
Beatie
Ginger
Lemoni
Nana
Clementine

Skye99 · 14/08/2025 01:29

I think it sounds silly and could embarrass your daughter.

Hatty123 · 14/08/2025 00:21

I just immediately think of poor Peaches Geldof when I read your post. It has such horrible associations now as Peaches Geldof was so famous and her heroin overdose at age 25 was just so horrendously tragic.

I teach in a school, I hear lots of names and I must say, I’m not personally a fan of the name “Peach” … I think it would garner a lot of eye brow raising and “that poor child being lumbered with a name like that” kind of comments in the staff room. Not necessarily from me but as I say, I’m equally not a fan of it. I think it just doesn’t sound like a name for a human, maybe a new dating app? “Try Peach - for some Sweet introductions” or a lingerie range? “Reach for Peach - lingerie you will really love to squeeze into!”
Enjoy your new little baby Op and best of luck deciding on a name - you’ve certainly got us all thinking anyway!!

I actually know a Peach who is about 7 now.

What do you think of it? Does it suit her?

😂 Not as ‘vile’ as a sour peach. 🤷‍♀️

And again, that’s your opinion :)

I’ve never met a baby Lena. Where are you op?

The uk. There is 5 at my nephews school and my partner knows a few. I suppose I’m never going to get a completely unique name

As you say, your dd being loved etc is the most important thing. It isn't important to give your child a super rare name. I know you feel people on here are being mean, but they are a representation of how society might react when your dd says her name. You might like it, but she needs to live with it for the next 80 years. I wouldn't burden her with that.
Lena is a lovely name, and not too common. If you feel it may be too much 'of its time' then Elena is pretty and more timeless, and goes with the Spanish surnames. Also more options for nicknames.

Yes it’s just made me realise how spiteful people are, I’m quite shocked at some of the replies but as you say, these people do actually exist.

How about the name Vida? We considered it for our DD but ended up preferring something else

I did actually think of this!

Have you only chosen 2 names? Neither are great but that only my opinion

See how easy it is to give an opinion and not be spiteful? Other users may want to take some lessons.

Of all the beautiful names out there, you're thinking about naming your child after a furry fruit that looks like an arse???

People have different ideas of the word beautiful. What one person finds beautiful another may not. If people want to sexualise a peach well that’s on them, I find that weird myself, not the name.

Ok so why did your OP say 'I don’t know if it’s too out there?! Thoughts?' Do you want other people's input or not?

So sick of repeating myself. Yes, I wanted opinions but didn’t realise the amount of bitchy vicious comments I would get. I welcome different opinions but do not welcome pure nastiness which a lot of these replies have been.

Wolfpa · 13/08/2025 20:28

Go to your front door and shout Peach as if you are calling her in from playing and see how you feel when doing it. If you feel fine then it is probably ok. If you feel silly it’s a sign not to do it.

How about:

Mila
Lila
Lara
Lilly
Lucia
Leah

instead?
