What are your thoughts on the name Nia?
Is it considered dated?
DH is from Wales, now living near London. Thanks for your views!

Nia and far, wherever you are. I believe that the heart does go on

Beautiful. Is it Nee-uh?

OliviaBonas · 12/08/2025 17:08

It’s like calling someone the word near. Fun when you teach a class full of girls called Mia, Nia and Tia!

Y2ker · 12/08/2025 17:06

I like it. Less common than Mia and just a bit unusual.

Emanwenym · 12/08/2025 17:02

I know dozens of them, mostly my age. It's a nice name, and is the Welsh equivalent of Niamh.

Pronunciation is NEE-ah (like Mia but with an N not M).

Momstermash94 · 12/08/2025 16:59

Never met anyone called Nia, I don't think it sounds dated at all. It sounds really pretty!

BCBird · 12/08/2025 16:56

Ambiguity in pronunciation: knee a or nigh a.
She will get fed up.of correcting people

IMissSparkling · 12/08/2025 16:55

Love it! I know a couple of Nias and they are both lovely people. They're both in their 40s so it may well be a bit dated.

FunnySam · 12/08/2025 16:53

Awww love this, think it's short & sweet
