Which boys name?

Just trying to get an idea on which name people prefer for a boy.

Darcy or Archie.

Both names have significance for me personally for different reasons. One for a family resemblance and one for a lifestyle (hard to explain). I love both…

Darcy is definitely a girls name - we have loads round here mostly spelt with a y.

Archie is lovely.

Mumofgirls2017 · 07/08/2025 21:26

Love Darcy but for a girl. Therefore I’d go Archie.

Jan168 · 07/08/2025 21:04

Archie definitely. Darcy is a girls name.

BoleynMemories13 · 07/08/2025 20:59

Darcy is definitely predominantly a girls name. I couldn't do that to a son.

Archie isn't for me, personally, but it's far preferable to Darcy for that very reason.

Both Darcy and Darcie (and Darcey) are definitely girls’ names. Archie is ok.

DevonDonnie · 07/08/2025 20:40

Thanks for replies- Archie has a special family connection and Darcie I’ve always liked for a girl for a good personal reason, and thought Darcy with a y was the male version of it.

Darcy is very much a girls name.

Archie is fine but a bit dated, it was super popular about 15/20 years ago.

MrsMoastyToasty · 07/08/2025 20:38

I think Darcy is a girls name. I personally don't like boys names with an "ie" ending. They're cute when they're little but I'm not so keen on it for an adult.

I have also only heard of female Darcys. Apart from Mr Darcy and that is his surname, and his first name is never revealed in the book.

Fitzwilliam

DorothyStorm · 07/08/2025 20:37

Know many, many Darcy’s. All female. Unless you're in australia where apparently it is mainly for boys.

but archie is meh.

Emanwenym · 07/08/2025 20:35

I don't like Archie but Darcy is established as a girl's name. Babies with names beginning Darc in England & Wales since 1996

Mr Darcy was Fitzwilliam.

I’ve never heard of Darcy for a boy. Everyone will presume he’s a girl.

DustlandFairytaleBeginning · 07/08/2025 20:31

Archie. | have known two Darcy's- both female- I think it could be difficult for him being mistaken for a girl unfortunately.
