Which boys name?

Just trying to get an idea on which name people prefer for a boy.

Darcy or Archie.

Both names have significance for me personally for different reasons. One for a family resemblance and one for a lifestyle (hard to explain). I love both…

Archie 100%, all Darcy’s I know are female.

There are loads of pre teen Alfies around here. Often shouted for as Al-Fay

I also really like Alfie but I guess it’ll be as unpopular as Archie - boy names are so hard? I love Valerie for girls but everyone I’ve spoken to says eww no they’ll get called Val that’s too old fashioned. Maybe I like old fashioned?

Despite them both being ie short forms, I prefer Alfie to Archie. I just think it's a nicer sound. There' are also a lot less of them around me, whereas Archie is practically the most popular boys name around me and has been for years.

(could do Archer as full name so it's more mature when he's older) Archer is awful. It's a surname.

NorthernDancer · 09/08/2025 08:43

The only Darcy I know is a boy

Eenameenadeeka · 09/08/2025 07:07

I agree about Archie (could do Archer as full name so it's more mature when he's older) over Darcy because I do think Darcy is a girl's name, but really similar name I came across was Darby which I thought was a cool boys name but was too out there for my DH haha

FrogFrogFrog · 09/08/2025 06:13

I love the name Valerie.

Ok I’m getting strong Darcy is a girls name so I’ve definitely reconsidered this for a boy. I just adore the name for a few literary and dance reasons! Archie is a special nickname for a family member. I’m now exploring many other names for both boys and girls. So many options! So many opinions!

Archie for sure

Silverbirchleaf · 08/08/2025 19:52

Darby used to be considered a boys name , but more recently is a girls babe.

RuthW · 08/08/2025 19:44

Archie is just awful and Darcy is a girl’s name.

supafish · 08/08/2025 18:31

Darcy is a girls name , don’t do it to him

Limonades · 08/08/2025 18:00

Archie is twee and overused. It will date badly

MamaKatey12 · 08/08/2025 15:23

Archie is a classic! Popular but because it is a nice name

NotTheHair · 08/08/2025 11:51

Darcy was definitely male in Neighbours!

PistachioTiramisuLimoncello · 08/08/2025 11:42

Ah sorry just read your update.
Darcie is great for a girl.

PistachioTiramisuLimoncello · 08/08/2025 11:41

Darcy is female
Archie is way over used.
Do you like any more op?

Alexandrine · 08/08/2025 11:25

Archie of the two. Not my cup of tea but there’s lots out there. Darcy/Darcie/Darci/Darcey (I have seen all these spellings) has definitely gone to the girls so there might be a high potential for teasing on a boy.

pilates · 08/08/2025 06:58

Archie just because Darcy is a girl's name

user1492757084 · 08/08/2025 05:58

I have only ever known of male Darcys.
I know about five Darcys, from two to thirty years old in Australia.

I met one D'Arcie who was female.

DevonDonnie · 08/08/2025 01:27

I don’t actually know if I’m having a boy or a girl but I love the name Darcie/Darcy and thought it could be both genders but it seems most are disapproving of it being a boys name. Was worth asking.

Archie ❤️

CandleLamp · 07/08/2025 22:26

Whilst I think of Darcy as more of a girl’s name, the first person I think of is the male rugby player Darcy Graham.

timoteigirl · 07/08/2025 22:08

Archie is so boring........... but I thought Darcy is okay for a boy. It was explained to me the same as Lacey and Lacy that one is for girls and one for boys.
