Baby girl name Bonnie?

This is baby number three and our last baby. I really like the name but I am concerned about the formality of it.

Does anybody know of any full names that Bonnie could be a NN for?

I don’t think Bonnie needs to have a longer name.

She is all over the papers/social media and there is a brand new documentary about her right now!

Honesty I've only heard about her on here 🙂

This is ridiculous, I haven't heard of Bonnie Blue anywhere except MN where they're obsessed with her

reminds me of a labrador tbh

My son who is now very late 20s was going to be called Bonnie..he is so glad he was male.😂
I still love the name.

This! A beautiful name now synonymous with a porn star 😢

My first thought was Bonnie from Toy Story. I like it!

TimeForABreak4 · 04/08/2025 00:21

Makes me think of Bonnie Blue 🤮

shitshow1976 · 04/08/2025 00:18

My niece is Bonnie Lee. She's in her thirties and it suits her perfectly 👌
I think it's a beautiful name.

LucasBuck · 04/08/2025 00:07

I’ve met a few Bonnie’s - it’s a fairly well used name, so unless your surname is similar to Blue, I don’t think the porn actress matters.

But I must admit the sound of the name isn’t my cup of tea - it’s too cutely descriptive: “A bonnie wee lass”, it kind of sounds like a general nickname for any young girl to me.

I can’t think of a longer version other than Bronwen - the one I know in RL has the nn “Bronny”, so I don’t see why “Bonnie” couldn’t be used as easily if wanted.

cheesycheesy · 03/08/2025 23:52

That name has been ruined for about 20 years

SnowFrogJelly · 03/08/2025 23:52

Bonnie is more of a dogs name..

Bigearringsbigsmile · 03/08/2025 23:52

Great name for a golden retriever

Say Bonnie, hear Blue 🤢

It's not a name I'd use now, I'd steer well clear.

I came here to post this.

ItsameLuigi · 03/08/2025 23:21

Immediately thought Bonnie Blue

DustlandFairytaleBeginning · 03/08/2025 23:14

I know a Bonnie (she's 7|)- I love the name personally. Hers isn't short for anything.

I get what people are saying about Bonnie Blue but that story will be washed up before the baby is even at nursery, and I don't really make the association strongly. I would go for it if you like it (and if your surname isn't anything close like Hue)

Top 50 last year (stats recently released by ONS.) I suspect it will plummet like a stone this year due to the Bonnie Blue association. Who would want their baby's name connected to basically a porn 'star'?

OneNeatBlueOrca · 03/08/2025 22:57

I know a baby bonnie. she is just bonnie it is not a nickname.

If you like the name, just call her that.

Greeneyegirl · 03/08/2025 22:56

Bonnie is fine and it's very popular at the moment (in the top 50) I know a few under 3

mismomary · 03/08/2025 22:53

Sadly a pretty name ruined

Calliopespa · 03/08/2025 22:45

It's one of those names that seems to me more like a nn than a proper name.

I can see the appeal; its quite cute for a little girl, but I don't think it really carries her into womanhood very well.

Also I've known two IRL and both were absolute brats who needed to be centre of attention and were nasty to other children, so on balance it's a no from me.

rohners · 03/08/2025 21:55

Bonnie blue has ruined this name sorry

Moreteaandchocolate · 03/08/2025 21:40

I find Bonnie way too twee for my taste and then there’s the Bonnie Blue thing. Connie?
