Any ideas for a middle name? Pretty please?

DD is due in 3 months and one of the favourite names so far is Abi (will be named Abigail but called Abi). We have no idea at all for a middle name though - our surname is Brown so pretty much anything will go with that but we need something as that surname is so common.

We are totally stuck - last pregnancy I spent hours with my head in the baby book. This time around it feels like one more thing to do lol.

Any help much appreciated

We used family names for middle names - my ds is Garnet (my dad's somewhat odd name) and my dd is Frances Irene after her grandma and great grandma. They aren't names I would choose - but I love the connection - and so do the children. I have a photo of dd with her grandma and great grandma, and when she was little she used to love pointing and saying "There's the Irene, there's the Frances and there's the Grace!"

Abigail Genevieve
Abigail Lucy
Abigail Marina
Abigail Belinda
Abigail Florence
Abigail Georgina
Abigail Katherine
Abigail Miranda
Abigail Rosalind

I think you need a name of at least two syllables.

Meeely2 · 29/05/2008 16:12

Meredith is my sisters middle name, glad you like it!

AbbeyA · 29/05/2008 07:07

I think that you should have a middle name, I haven't got one and wish that I had! Abigail Rose or Abigail Grace have been the nicest mentioned.

sannie · 28/05/2008 22:28

Abigail Scarlett
Abigail Alexandra
Abigail Hannah
Abigail Harriet

TBH, why bother with a middlename, if it isn't a name of importance (familyname or something like that) ?

However here goes:
Ivy
Maisie
Casey/Cassandra
Niamh
Georgia

I'm sorry but Sparky Brown it is now.

Sparky Abigail Meredith Brown is delightful and lovely and my vote is with that one.

KristinaM · 28/05/2008 19:58

ooh am liking Meredith. unusual but not weird

KristinaM · 28/05/2008 19:54

although Sparky is good...

if you like your MIL or she is very rich and you want to curry favour i woudl go for Rose and tell her its after her

otherwise Abigail Grace Brown is good

though Abi Brown is too short IMHO

Meeely2 · 28/05/2008 19:54

Meredith

Mavornia · 28/05/2008 19:53

Abigail Grace and Abigail Rose sound lovely as suggested earlier

I also love:
Abigail IvyAbigail Eirlys (means snowdrop in Welsh)
Abigail Elyse

bubblagirl · 28/05/2008 19:48

elizabeth
daisy
mae
rose
grace

AbbeyA · 28/05/2008 19:36

I think Abigail Rose is very pretty. I think it needs to be a short middle name.

addictedtoharibo · 28/05/2008 19:27

Ah. Have found a problem. If she is going to be Abi Sparky Brown then her initials will be ASB. She's already going to be 3/4 of the way to an ASBO before she can even hold her head up. And what if she meets someone with the surname Orange or Oliver and wants to go all double barrelled?

Slubber - you were right all along. Will have to just be Sparky.

And Ivy - great minds think alike - I always use that one on my DH

Oh just tell him when you get back from the registrars - actually dont even tell him then just wait until he finds the birth certificate.......

Then claim that you told him previuosly and why cant he remember?

Ellbell · 28/05/2008 17:31

Sparky

Ellbell · 28/05/2008 17:28

I like Abigail Joy, though I have to say that the cat/quoit story is hard to resist.

addictedtoharibo · 28/05/2008 17:21

I am so tempted to try tonight (complete with cat story and dramatic tears). Now if I can just find a photo of said cat...

Slubberdegullion · 28/05/2008 17:19

absolutely

Would love to be a fly on the wall when you told him. Particularly with the ex heroic pet explanation.

addictedtoharibo · 28/05/2008 17:17

Well he wasnt interested in coming along to register the birth last time...perfect revenge I say...

Slubberdegullion · 28/05/2008 17:12

ahhh a cat.

Well a cat with a quoit in a river is an even better story.

So Sparky it is then.

excellent

when are you going to tell DH the change of plan?

addictedtoharibo · 28/05/2008 17:10

Sparky was unfortunately a cat. Although if I just stretch the truth slightly and pretend she was a cat who did all of that - who is going to argue?

haribo (imvho) you should shelve Abigail (or use that as a middle name) and just embrace Sparky.

If Sparky (the dog) did something heroic in her time, I'm thinking swam out to you through a swollen river with a rubber quoit with a rope afixed to it, and then swam back and then dragged you through said river to safety. Well that would be great.

Did sparky do anything like that, ever?

ScaryHairy · 28/05/2008 17:04

Loveday.

lulurose · 28/05/2008 17:00

Rose

Goes with everything and is classic and pretty
