Out of curiosity what age are the Emilys you know? Any over the age of 40?

I’m looking for a truly timeless simple name and Emily seems to be a popular suggestion for that style on here. I weirdly didn’t know any Emily’s growing up but I guess it makes sense according to the ons it seemed to peak after I was born. It seemed to have had a big moment in 90s/2000s so I would guess most were in their late teens and early 20s now.

I was just curious if you know any older Emily’s just so I can properly gage if it’s truly timeless or not?

I’m 49, I had two in my year at school and one in the year above.

DeirdreChambersWhatACoincidence · 24/07/2025 20:58

I know two- 40 and 45.

MumofSpud · 24/07/2025 20:57

A 53 year old Emily - at school in the 70s/80s her name was v different in the midst of Nicolas / Sarahs and Joannes!

CheeseWisely · 24/07/2025 20:52

I know one mid 30s, and funnily enough two ex’s both had older Sisters who were Emily, both would be late 40s now.

Fridaynightfish · 24/07/2025 20:51

One of my best friends has a sister called Emily in her 50’s. It’s a beautiful name which will age well.

clamshell24 · 24/07/2025 20:49

Mine are 56, 45, 43, 41.

WonderingWanda · 24/07/2025 20:20

I went to school with a couple of Emily's who are mid 40's now. I know a couple of mid 30's Emily's. Plus lots around the 11 - 16 age range. I don't really know many people in their 20's so can't comment if it's common in that age group.

LittleGreenDuck · 24/07/2025 20:20

I know two in their 40s, one aged 14 and another aged 10. I'd say it's a timeless name.

notacooldad · 24/07/2025 20:19

I know a few teenagers called Emily.
My DH friend's dd is Emily and she is 29.
My mum's friend is Emily and she is 81.
There's a few social worker's and IT staff at my work called Emily. Not sure how old they are but I'm guessing between 30 and 45.

TheNightingalesStarling · 24/07/2025 20:19

My great aunt would have been late 90s now.
DHs cousin is late 30s.

I knew a few at school... 40ish now.

Skissors · 24/07/2025 20:17

Im mid 50s and there was one Emily in my school year . I didn't know any other Emilys of my age.
At the time I thought it was a weird old fashioned name. I associated it with the girl on Bagpuss who looked Edwardian.

There must be a lot aged about 30 now.

Luckyingame · 24/07/2025 20:17

One, 50+.

Mydadsbirthday · 24/07/2025 20:14

Mid 40s and there were a few when I was at school. I work with one who's mid 30s.

marriednotdead · 24/07/2025 20:12

I've known several who would now be in their early 30s and one who is almost 60.

I wonder if this means names are also regional in their popularity.
I was born in 1981 and I have never met an Emily my age.

Yes, I'm sure

Mortigua · 24/07/2025 20:11

I know at least 3 that I can think of off hand . My age (46 ) or similar

Aligirlbear · 24/07/2025 20:10

One is 27. Another is 47 , one who is 75 and my friend has a GD who is 3 so from my perspective the name spans a number of decades and seems timeless. Oh my grandmother who would be 115 if she were still alive was also an Emily , known as Emmie.

Illbefinejustbloodyfine · 24/07/2025 20:09

A few in their 40s, one aged 8.

DublinLaLaLa · 24/07/2025 20:09

I went to school with one. She’d be 45 now. I teach one who is 15 and also have a niece at primary school called Emily.

There is also Emily Blunt who’s in her 40s and Emily Brontë who would be coming up for 200 now!

100% timeless.

novadaisy · 24/07/2025 20:08

Most Emilys I know are under 40, but a few are over

Hellohah · 24/07/2025 20:07

Reallywittyusername · 24/07/2025 19:49

It was reasonably common in my era (born early 80s) and there were a lot about 10 - 15 years ago too.

But I do know one who is 70+! She goes by Emmo

I wonder if this means names are also regional in their popularity.

JustAnotherMumTho · 24/07/2025 20:05

I’m 32 and remember there being quite a few Emily’s in my year and the years either side of me at school. DS is 10 and has 2 Emily’s in his class. I’ve never met one significantly older than me.

Holiday24 · 24/07/2025 20:04

I know an Emily aged 39.

ChompandaGrazia · 24/07/2025 20:03

One in her 50s, one in her 30s and one who is 5

louderthan · 24/07/2025 20:03

I think it’s a lovely name for what it’s worth.
