My daughter is Phoebe, my grandma was Eliza, excellent names OP x

My 20 year old is Eliza. I like Phoebe, but not Ophelia as I read Hamlet for A level so it has connotations for me.

Chocolateeggsarebetterthannormalchocolate · 23/07/2025 21:18

Ophelia
Phoebe
Elizabeth

That would be my order. My phone autocorrected Ophelia to Ephesians if that's a name you'd consider?

(I do feel the need to point out that I'm joking about consideringit as a name...)

TheeNotoriousPIG · 23/07/2025 21:00

Phoebe is an excellent choice!

SunflowerLife · 23/07/2025 19:24

I know an Ophelia. She gets " a feel of ya tits". So not that.

ThatBusyPanda · 23/07/2025 19:22

Ophelia will most likely remind people of Hamlet and she went mad and drowned, so I don’t think it’s a great namesake! Eliza and Phoebe are both lovely

Louoby · 23/07/2025 19:08

Love Eliza, Phoebe is okay. Dislike Ophelia. My favourite girl name is Quinn.

KayEmAy · 23/07/2025 19:02

Love Phoebe

Phoebe ❤️

pecanpiee · 22/07/2025 18:03

I don’t like the last one, I’m so sorry I’m not trying to be rude but to me it sounds like some kind of illness.

RuthW · 22/07/2025 17:55

I love Eliza and none around here.
also love Phoebe and not many about.
There are loads and loads of Ophelias.

Cocktailsandcheese · 22/07/2025 16:37

Phoebe is my favourite

ladyamy · 22/07/2025 07:21

Eliza

willsandnoodle · 22/07/2025 06:23

We have an Ophelia at nursery and the amount of practitioners who can’t say it right, I don’t think I’d use the name.

we also have a Phoebe, and that’s super cute on a little one. Pheebs.

Eliza is beautiful - never met one in person

LivingTheDreamish · 22/07/2025 05:59

Love Phoebe. Phoebe Eliza? I wouldn't worry about the Friends connection.

Unexpectedlysinglemum · 21/07/2025 20:55

You might also like Elspeth that's my current fave

Unexpectedlysinglemum · 21/07/2025 20:54

I love Ophelia

Bengenderson · 21/07/2025 00:17

Eliza and Phoebe are beautiful

Im not keen on Ophelia. I remember watching one of the 20 kids and counting episodes with the radford family and one of the toddlers is called Ophelia but always pronounced like ‘aw-feel-ya’

Cluborange666 · 21/07/2025 00:06

I like Ophelia but I feel that it’d be bad luck to call my child that (Hamlet). I prefer Eliza to Phoebe.

wafflesmgee · 21/07/2025 00:05

Love Phoebe
dislike Eliza
in the middle on Ophelia

TempsPerdu · 20/07/2025 23:54

Can’t go wrong with either Phoebe or Eliza but I can’t warm to Ophelia at all and find it much too frilly and faddy. I suspect it will date much more than the other two.

While both are lovely, at a push I think I’d choose Eliza over Phoebe as to me it has a more elegant sound and ages a little better.

Mistyglade · 20/07/2025 23:04

Eliza

LurkThenPost · 20/07/2025 22:57

Eliza is lovely!

LucasBuck · 20/07/2025 22:56

Adore Ophelia - so elegant sounding. I know it’s trendy now, but in some ways that increase in popularity’s a good thing as it makes it less likely people will automatically think/mention Hamlet now when they hear the name.

Less keen on the sounds of Phoebe and Eliza (though I do love Elizabeth) - Phoebe has too much “ee” in so short a name for me and the “lie” sound in Eliza isn’t pleasant imo.
